Highway Pasque: March 2010
http://livelypasque.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
The long road ahead of us. Tuesday, March 30, 2010. To Sleep . . . . I woke up this morning at 6:45 to Lively fussing and hungry. This is not unusual. What is unusual is that I don't remember getting up with him last night. So I thought, finally, he's sleeping through again. It's amazing to me that I didn't wake up. I always wake up. Except that last night, despite my exhaustion, my free-flowing worry kept me up until after 1 am, so that when I eventually drifted off, I crashed. I've never been so tired.
Highway Pasque: September 2010
http://livelypasque.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
The long road ahead of us. Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Things That Have Happened. Lively got a g-tube. It looks like this:. The tube goes through his abdominal wall and the balloon inflates in his stomach to hold it in place. On the outside, there's a "button" that, at times, doesn't have anything attached to it, so he can wear normal shirts or even overalls again! This, by the way, was taken just after his first haircut. Here's the before picture:. Next month Lively will have another swallow study to...
Highway Pasque: May 2010
http://livelypasque.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
The long road ahead of us. Thursday, May 20, 2010. We got to bring Lively home on Saturday (May 15). We're very, very thankful to be home. Here he is on his way out:. I go back to work tomorrow, and I don't feel ready at all. I guess it had to happen sometime. Thankfully, my department has graciously allowed me to be off since Lively was admitted to the hospital, which is one of the many reasons that I love U of M and will work there forever. Go Blue! Saturday, May 15, 2010. Hospital Day 25, and counting.
Highway Pasque: A letter to Lively's class
http://livelypasque.blogspot.com/2011/10/letter-to-livelys-class.html
The long road ahead of us. Thursday, October 20, 2011. A letter to Lively's class. Dear parent of a healthy "normal" child in Lively's preschool class:. I understand that it is completely normal that a 2-year-old would be curious as to why his new friend at school gets some food, water, and medicine through a tube in his belly. Your child has probably never seen anything like this before, and it may seem funny, or weird, or even a little scary to him. But you're a doctor, right? Well, go f#@% yourself.
Highway Pasque: February 2010
http://livelypasque.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
The long road ahead of us. Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Long day, lots of updates. Here's Pete holding Lively at the neurologist's office today. At this point, we'd been at the hospital for 4 hours, and had several more to go. I suppose that the news today was mostly positive and encouraging, although I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and worried and not entirely positive at the moment. I still keep thinking I'll wake up in the morning and this whole thing will have been a nightmare. First of all, I want to...
