A view from the Hill. So, we had a presentation on the Ukraine today (Wed.) at the elementary school where I work. It was really wonderful. I was so surprised to see how much it was like China. I guess that's the work of the long arm of communism. It was a little freaky.even down to the way they make their beds. Posted by Athena @ 11:58:00 AM. This morning as I read the Scriptures I was struck with a thought that has been reverberating(is this even word? Today though there are many unresolved issues in m...

Musings on Christian spirituality, philosophy and theology. Saturday, December 24, 2005. Humility in the Academy. Humility in the Academy. Pride is unbecoming to the Christian scholar. Confidence, expertise, ambition these are all important qualities of a professor or researcher. Arrogance, however, is unseemly even for the atheist. You may say, I will listen, but only to those who I deem worthy. Such a person has missed the point. Jesus submitted himself to all sorts, none of whom was worthy....ID cr...

Musings on Christian spirituality, philosophy and theology. Monday, May 30, 2005. McLaren Pt. 1: A Series of Unfortunate Literary Events. Firstly, I'm genuinely torn. I really enjoyed McLaren's book. As someone in vocational ministry who is at a point in his career similar to that of the fictional protagonist, many of the pages of McLaren's book were deeply affirming and therapeutic. As a work of fiction, it seemed like a well-crafted and creative narrative, but I'm no writer. A New Kind of Christian.

A view from the Hill. I have been thinking about what it means that God is Sovereign. I have heard this character trait of God thrown around a lot lately. I think I have used God's sovereignty as a cover for my own lack of personal responsiblity. What does it meant to pray over a decision and decide? Posted by Athena @ 1:38:00 PM. Grace in the Storm. Immediately after that I painted. The other two paintings. Grace in the Storm. Posted by Athena @ 5:45:00 PM. View my complete profile. Ryan and Sherry Smith.

A view from the Hill. In the next couple of days I hope to post about my wonderful spring break. Posted by Athena @ 9:37:00 AM. So, when I was growing up my sister was the creative one. She is a talented artist and poet! Check out her blog for some great lines. Anyway, I kind of stuffed the creative part of me to make life work. I thought I to needed to "be" something else in order to have my own place in the world. Posted by Athena @ 5:23:00 PM. Movie Review and A Word About Being Me. 2 He films are fun...
