Living with Murphy

Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Today was a milestone in my journey to learn to walk again. After having an amputation on June 9, 2014 and then having an infection that caused me to be on IV antibiotics for almost three months, today we finally got to don Murphy (my prosthetic leg) and begin configuring the settings so I can learn how to walk. Woohoo! Just about the time I was thinking I would never get there, here I am! Thursday I go to the surgeon to discuss my surgical options for my gallstones. Hopefu...

Living with Murphy: The Road to Murphy is not Paved with Gold!

http://livingwithanamputation.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-road-to-murphy-is-not-paved-with.html

Tuesday, April 22, 2014. The Road to Murphy is not Paved with Gold! This one is a big one because I have such a fear of the unknown expenses. We have already drained our savings meeting the deductibles.and everyone knows that teachers make sooooooooo much money! We will get through it.we will figure it out.and I am sure we will be just fine.but it is still frustrating and quite frightening to think about our financial instability. I just gotta remember that the first step is always a doozie! How the Heck...

Living with Murphy: Good News!

http://livingwithanamputation.blogspot.com/2015/01/good-news-no-ulcers-woohoo-now-we-are.html

Saturday, January 3, 2015. Now we are setting up an appointment to get a surgery consult for the gallstones. Let's hope it is soon, because they are very painful! My appointment is for January 29th, but please pray they can get me in sooner! Also, tomorrow I go get Murphy! I am still not allowed to use it, but in about four weeks I can get it "programmed" and start physical therapy. It will be several months before I can walk unassisted, but I am so excited to get started! We can do it! 1 Keep doing my p...

Living with Murphy: March 2014

http://livingwithanamputation.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Murphy is a go! WowI have so much to update that I hope I do not bore you! Monday of this week, I went to see my foot doctor. She finally conceded that amputation was a viable option and that I should do what I want. I could choose reconstructive surgery or I could choose amputation. I was relieved that she supported my decision to choose amputation. Keep your fingers crossed! This is what a C-leg looks like.. So the door is open to getting it done. So now I go back to the...

Living with Amy | Beta Version

On My Night Stand. February 1, 2013. How real is dying to me? It is starting to get very real. I ask myself if I am afraid of dying? And so every day, I am learning better how to treasure the time I think I have left. I learned it is not about crossing things off my bucket list. I once had dreams of stepping foot on every continent (is that possible with Antarctica? I only have one chance, what if I fail ; I don’t have enough. My faith reminds me that God has a remarkable plan for all of us. A plan t...

Living with an anorexic mother. The uncensored and explicit account of what it is like to see someone you love destroy themselves, and be utterly powerless. July 16, 2013. April 29, 2013. The new me . I guess. Anyway before I came back in my father phoned and asked what I’d been up to and I was honest with him and said “well I had to have a blood transfusion and I attempted something silly today so I’m not doing so well”. His response? December 26, 2012. So this is the vicious circle of self loathing:.

To the person I love? Depression doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom – good things can come out of it – for you and the one you love and maybe that’s the ‘why’ you’ve been searching for. June 3, 2015. When someone who you love has depression, it’s heartbreaking for you to see how they look down on themselves. So...But the...
