Solo | Johannes Burström
http://johannesburstrom.se/works/timmer
I’m currently working on a solo project for feedback-augmented Double bass. The sound from the bass is processed and sent back to a couple of transducer speakers mounted on the bass. The feedback affects the sustain and other physical characteristics of the instrument. The project is still in its infancy, but these are some early sketches.

Chinese Whispers | Johannes Burström

An interactive video installation (something like a Dance Karaoke) that encloses the present, the future and the past, made together with Trade Project. The video installation was shown at Lunds Konsthall in their exhibition Dance is Present. Similar to the classic children’s game, where a sentence travels from one person to another and with time transforms into something new, we ask our participants to physically respond, confirm and interpret each others contributions.

CV / Johannes Burström. Born in Umeå 1979, currently based in Stockholm, Sweden. I’m an improvising musician, composer, sound designer and programmer. Having played the double bass for 25 years, I try to have a physicality present in all the things I do, whether it’s music for headphones, dancers or improvising musicians. I often find myself exploring how subtle digital treatments can amplify and enhance a physical experience. Composer and Sound designer,. Composer and Sound designer,. Kägelkastarna a da...

Public Eremite | Johannes Burström

A dance solo by Charlotta Ruth, about communication, multitasking and being at many places at the same time. The music has a distinctive fairytale flavour, contrasting epic movie scoring with stubborn electronic bleeps. Along with the performance comes a sound installation, with speaker objects and repurposed mobile phones. The phones are programmed to sound like birds, and can be controlled over network from the computer running the show.

Music for the performance installation Staden. By Nomodaco. The performance was made in Umeå 2014 for the European Capital of Culture programme. The music, composed in close collaboration with David Sandström, has started out as separate pieces for each of the modules created by the invited guest choreographers. These three pieces was merged and extended during the final process, creating an hour-long performance starting outdoors in sunset and later moving indoors.
