Llanmaes WI is part of the National Federation of Women's Institutes (NFWI) and also Glamorgan Federation of Women's Institute (GFWI). We have around 40 members from the village and the surrounding area. Meetings are held at 7:30pm on the second Tuesday of the month in Llanmaes Village Hall, and the WI also arranges trips, a monthly craft group and other activities for members. Best Village in The Vale. Welcome to the Llanmaes village website. Llanmaes has a long history for such a humble village. In fields adjacent to the coast road lie remains of a Roman fort. Much restoration work has been carried out on the church which also holds a pre-reformation mural of St George and the Dragon that has almost escaped damage but is now very faint. The village has won the Vale of Glamorgan Best Kept Village competition on at least eight occasions.
