The flock runs about 85 ewes, with 15 - 20 ewe lambs kept as replacements each year. Half of the ewes run with a pure Torddu ram, whilst the remainder are used to breed Suffolk cross lambs. Lambing takes place during March and whilst we aim to breed true to type Badger Faces from the pure flock, those lambs which are not to show ring standard or suitable for our breeding flock, have to grow into a butchers lamb suitable for todays market. 30 years of breeding sheep . The first Torddu Badger Face sheep were kept at Llwyn-on in the Llanthony Valley, almost 30 years ago. When Lucy was still a teenager, her mother was on an annual visit to the NSA Ram Sale at Builth Wells when she wandered into a marquee and saw the unusually marked Badgers. A couple of old ewes were purchased and taken back to Llanthony, resulting in the birth of the Llwyn-on Flock. Llwyn-on Flock created at www.mrsite.com.
