Inspired by Julie (who is inspiring in so many ways! I realized it’s time to get my laptop off the dining room table and surround myself with fewer distractions. Sitting downstairs means there is TV, direct access to the kitchen (and coffee! It all has to start somewhere. Much love and many hugs,. January 26, 2015. January 26, 2015. They will often...

iTri: Race Report: Covered Bridges Half Marathon
http://rrubenson.blogspot.com/2013/06/race-report-covered-bridges-half.html
Musings on my efforts to improve as an athlete and at other aspects of life. Sunday, June 2, 2013. Race Report: Covered Bridges Half Marathon. The group was all smiles before the race. The Covered Bridges Half Marathon was going to be MY race. I picked the perfect course—fairly. My four long training runs were the strongest I’ve ever had in training. Flat, with idyllic scenery. It took me a good mile to get over the disappointment, but once I stopped worrying about time, the miles began to melt away....

Friends are Family | keep on dreamin'

Keep on dreamin'. Eyes open for the road ahead. This is who i am. August 6, 2015. August 7, 2015. It’s incredible to think how friendships form. I’m currently watching Eat, Pray, Love for the first time (I read the book years ago but this is the first time seeing the movie) and marvel how, in foreign places when you know no one and get lost doing the simplest things, a social group can develop and create the security and love you need always when you least expect it. The Latin people aren’t ones that tak...

Keep on dreamin'. Eyes open for the road ahead. This is who i am. This is who i am. Most of you already know me. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, I started this blog because I was traveling thru Mexico and Central America, living and experiencing everything possible, from cultural events to local beers to jumping off of tall objects and rafting down rivers. I was there from Aug. 2008 until May 2010 and had the opportunity to meet incredible people from all over the world. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Keep on dreamin'. Eyes open for the road ahead. This is who i am. Ramblings never make it to paper. January 25, 2015. January 25, 2015. What have I been doing with my life? Seriously, where has the time gone since May? So I needed something else. Unfortunately our local Bunnings (hardware store) wasn’t hiring and I wasn’t sure the direction I wanted to take. During a brief visit into the Ignite office I reunited with my old managers, and one thing led to another. I started consulting again on a contractu...

Misadventures of triathlon life. Musings of a struggling age grouper. Don’t Call it a Come Back →. November 8, 2012. After getting off the 6 hour, 112 mile bike ride I made my way into the Wilmington Convention Center to get into my Newtons and run a marathon. The full stats. He’d never done a marathon or a 114 mile ride before (he had trained, just never ‘did the distance’). Another motivator was the little GPS tracker. We walked around a little bit so I didn’t lock up. Boston to Germany: August 2010
http://bostontogermany.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
The journey to my 1st Ironman. Thursday, August 5, 2010. Let me tell you why this is so crazy. I have never been an athlete. In high school, I was the girl who failed the physical fitness test, because I got beat in the mile by the smokers. I dreaded gym class, and avoided anything that would make me sweat. Which is why, by the age of 26, I found myself at 210 pounds. On a girl barely 5'4", that is not a good look. I thought I was going to pass out, or my lungs would explode. But somehow, when a group of...
