Here are a couple more beauty shots of the boat. PHOTOS - The First Cruise of The STARRY NIGHT. Starry Night is dropped off at Pier Side Boat Yard in the North end of Charleston. Immediately, Oliver, Alfie, and I get to work. here we are installing the new stainless sail track. I re-arraigned some things on the compass box to make room for the digital instrument readout. Alfie was busy cutting a hole through the boat. A new thru hull for the depth, speedo, and water temp instrument. A view from aloft.

A long needed update 10/3/09. Oliver and I gave the deck a final sanding with 120 grit to remove the rest of the dried glue, and any scuff marks left in the deck since it was installed months ago. Then the clouds came and spurting rain over the boat, which revealed the most beautiful colors in all the wood throughout the boat. Week 31 Write Up- Surfaces installed, touch up varnish, and ceiling planks. The hardware arrived this week, and Brendan got busy attaching the cabinet doors, and other areas where hinges are used. The holding tank also arrived, as well as a shipment of Teak for the decking, and Mahogany for the veneers and ceiling planks. Friday, April 30, 2010. Next up are the rub rails and cockpit coamings. If I can get these two things on before she's launched I will be a very happy guy. A coat of 50/50 primer and topsides paint is brushed on to the hull. STBD side 2nd coat of primer. And here are 3 coats of finish paint. Looking at the bow, 3 coats of interlux Hatteras Off White 1990. Its always satisfying to pull the tape. The red boot gets cut up to the topsides. Here is one coat.another to go. Monday, April 11, 2011. I wasn't able to fit one piece of dynel for the cuddy top, so, like the deck, I had to create a 1 inch seam down the center. This was wetted out with epoxy and when dry I was able to get 1 coat of primer on. The coamings were sanded down with 220 and I was able to get on 2 coats of Allspar varnish. Dynel is cut to shape for the cuddy top. The dynel is epoxied down. First of two more coats of varnish to go on the coamings. Another view at the scarph joint. From the bow looking aft.

Sunday, February 6, 2011. Another stick jig is made for the Port bulkhead. And the plywood mold is cut and fit. Then go in the cleats followed by the Port Orford Cedar. Here they both are glued and screwed. Here is the A/C plywood ready to rough cut to the shape of the cuddy top. Here it is in place for marking the deck beams underneath.
