http://whoteacheswhom.blogspot.com/2009/06/dcsf-review-quis-custodiet-custodiens.html
Home education: my kids teach me everything. Wednesday, June 17, 2009. DCSF Review - Quis custodiet custodiens? Rec 3, 4, 5 and 6). This comes in the middle of section 4, "Elective Home Education in Context – the Views of Home Educators and Others.". I think this could be really good and might significantly improve schools if it's done by people with open minds and moderate intelligence. Which it might well be. This comes at the end of section 4. That the DCSF should bring forward proposals requiring all...

Who teaches whom?: Gifted Children
http://whoteacheswhom.blogspot.com/2012/01/gifted-children.html
Home education: my kids teach me everything. Friday, January 27, 2012. I used to proudly announce that L, now 7, was really really clever and brilliant and super bright and way ahead of her age. And then I stopped. And the late reading thing really got to me; I can't remember being unable to read, and I know for sure I was reading ok at three and very competently at four, though my handwriting was atrocious and got me into a lot of trouble until I was seven or so (after that it was just impossibly tiny).

Who teaches whom?: Mustn't overdo it
http://whoteacheswhom.blogspot.com/2010/09/mustnt-overdo-it.html
Home education: my kids teach me everything. Saturday, September 18, 2010. I am so so tired. Good news though - we have exchanged our table like this. Which we bought off Ebay ages ago) for a table like this. Which has drawers and is a better shape for our purposes. I'm very pleased. So today I was too tired to go to my meeting for the True Food Co-Op. Instead, they are going to do a supermarket-style delivery for me, but without the charge. I love them. Home education: my kids teach me everything. Friday, January 27, 2012. Links to this post. I used to proudly announce that L, now 7, was really really clever and brilliant and super bright and way ahead of her age. And then I stopped. Then I had E, now 5, and she wasn't as obviously miles ahead of the curve, and is also temperamentally much easier. And A is 18 months and she's more like L, though less extreme, and using words like "gifted" or even "clever" makes me very uncomfortable at the moment, becau...

Who teaches whom?: Sew busy
http://whoteacheswhom.blogspot.com/2012/01/sew-busy.html
Home education: my kids teach me everything. Thursday, January 12, 2012. We came home and L went straight back into the dinosaur book. She has a thing about the evolution of amphibians at the moment. And about not sleeping, but I can live with that. A was napping, and then we had a visitor who was pinned down and forced to read stories for about 90 minutes. I wish the child being happy was a reliable indicator of things being well. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Clutter, chaos, binning and binding.

Who teaches whom?: Spring!
http://whoteacheswhom.blogspot.com/2012/01/spring.html
Home education: my kids teach me everything. Friday, January 20, 2012. It's here. Which is frankly weird, because it's JANUARY, hello? But nonetheless. We had a busy morning, in that not very busy way; it was low key and unrushed, but people seemed to be getting a lot done. Reading maths puzzle books. I like that they don't need to be written in, so we can hand them on or lend them to others. Using acrylic paint to colour air-drying clay. I have no idea what the shapes are supposed to represent. Recommen...

Home education: my kids teach me everything. Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Photos instead of a post. Painting on big boards with acrylics, to make a playhouse / room divider. This is the door. We made a 12-hour train-and-ferry journey and had to bring the water bottles and tea stirrers all the way home because as soon as the tea stirrers were spotted, the five-year-old wanted to make this. With enough stickytape, she can make ANYTHING. Reading goggles. Right. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Painting ...

Who teaches whom?: December 2011
http://whoteacheswhom.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Home education: my kids teach me everything. Tuesday, December 06, 2011. We haven't done much remarkable lately. The five-year-old is learning to read, fairly organically. The seven-year-old is reading voraciously, a mixture of Enid Blyton and non-fiction and things she finds lying around. The one-year-old can stand on tiptoe and almost jump. Links to this post.
