WHY SURGERY? | Marathon B4 Mastectomy
https://marathonb4mastectomy.wordpress.com/why-surgery
Cancer, race, gender, body image, parenting, life and love. I certainly do need to explore having an oopherectomy. The risk for the general population for ovarian cancer is 1.8%. Yes, one-point-eight percent. For me, I have between a 45%-65% chance of developing ovarian cancer. Those odds, my friends, stink. March 16, 2014 at 2:42 pm. I just had a hysterectomy – I have a PTEN mutation, which is a tumor supressor gene like BRCA. I’m following your story now so I can read the back posts. To Stir the Consci...

This is awesome. Why? 8220;So my friend said that she thinks transgen...

Friday, December 30, 2011. So I am less then a week away from my surgery. Feeling a little anxious. I did have a very amazing week this week though that I would like to share. I celebrated my 33rd birthday, Happy Birthday to me! My coworkers surprised me with the most amazing cake ever. I included a picture above :). Talk about a HUGE source of encouragement! I went biking twice last week and that would have made a better story. I played wii, watched tons of stuff on netflix, wrote in my journal, made some phone calls, read, colored and played computer games. That was all on the first day. Now what? So how did it happen? http://fittingintomygenes.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Fitting into my BRCA Genes! Tuesday, December 7, 2010. 10 Steps forward, a couple steps back! Well I am not blogging as much as mind would like me to these days. I certainly always have a lot to say, but time does not warrent it always. These are things an untouched body does not experience. I want to feel untouched again. So and the answer is easy, Do Not Do It! So overall I am still taking it day by day, or even week by week. This week is tolerable, last week I was slightly distressed! BRCA IN THE NEWS!

Fitting into my BRCA Genes!: March 2010
http://fittingintomygenes.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Fitting into my BRCA Genes! Friday, March 19, 2010. After a very stressful week of my basement flooding, no hot water or heat and an approaching party for my daughter christening approaching, I had to end it with the anxiety provoking BRCA screening! My six months are up, and I find myself driving in to Boston not for a nice Italian meal in the north end, but for blood work, IV's, poking and prodding. There really is nothing like eating ice cream by yourself, gotta love it! So this is our choice! Great s...

Cut the b*tches off. Wednesday, February 23, 2011. That's just the way it goes. Got the call from substitute radiologist with my results. He started off blabbing on about atypical cells and I was a bit relieved thinking that was all I had. But he kept talking in circles and was mentioning dcis and I finally cut him off and said "are you saying it's dcis? Still holding out hope that maybe I just had some atypical cells. Cut the b*tches off. Friday, September 23, 2011. If you can't outrun it, overthrow it. I heard some statistics on the news the other day: 1 in 2 American males and 1 in 3 American females will get some form of cancer at some point in life. And 1 American dies every minute from cancer. Odds are great that you or someone in your family has/had or will have cancer. Sounds pretty hopeless doesn't it? So what are we supposed to do with this information? 2 Love Your Loved Ones. Endless Thoughts
Saturday, February 18, 2006. Received this from a good friend via email). The older I get, the more I enjoy Saturday mornings. Perhaps it's the quiet solitude that comes with being the first to rise, or maybe it's the unbounded joy of not having to be at work. Either way, the first few hours of a Saturday morning are most enjoyable. He was talking about "a thousand marbles" to someone named "Tom." I was intrigued and sat down to listen to what he had to say. You see, I sat down one day and did a little a...
