Vietnam: What It Costs

http://martyandmel2.blogspot.com/2007/02/day-to-day-living.html

Pretty much every thing in Vietnam is cheaper than in the western world (even if they have inflated the price for westerners) This is a rough guide at what daily life costs in Vietnam. 1 USD = 16,000 dong. 1 AUD = 12,000 dong. Even though the exchange rates vary every day most people here don't take notice of the fluctuations and stick to this rate. Which makes life a whole lot easier for us. Can of Coke = 6,000 dong. Loaf of bread = 16,000 dong. Small bottle of water = 3,000 dong. Post Cards = 7,000 dong.

Vietnam: Useless info

http://martyandmel2.blogspot.com/2007/02/useless-info.html

Vietnam is the second biggest producer of coffee in the world, just behind Brazil. Tet officially goes for three days but it is up to the family to decide how long they want off. It's not uncommon for most people to have up to 10 days off. Vietnam is home to the world's cheapest beer "Beer Hoi". The name "Vietnam" means "Ascending Dragon". When a family member dies, the remaining family will put up a blue tent 49 days later. Family and friends will then come to mourn him and celebrate his life.

THE MARTY & MEL CHRONICLES

http://martyandmel.blogspot.com/index.html

08 November, 2008. Well Marty and Mel fans, the time has come that we both have dreaded. This will be the last blog, installment and chapter of the Marty and Mel Chronicles. Our time has come to say our sad goodbyes as we have now landed back in to the best country that the world has to offer, 2 years, 1 month, 9 minutes and 17 seconds to the day that we left. It's hard to say what was the best and what was the worst as there are so many memories, but a few do spring to mind. So you may be wondering what...

Writersarah's Blog | Just another WordPress.com weblog

Just another WordPress.com weblog. March 1, 2010. The Creature in my Yard. This is not a movie review. This is a true story. This really happened. I’ve ever seen on anything. The Creature in my yard has those eyes, above a mouth full of needle-like teeth. It can open its mouth. Wide… wide enough to stuff Marty down its throat if it gets a hold of him. If it comes and stands in my doorway, even if it just. She laughs at me. Great. I call Alex, my fiance. I remembered to check the closets as well. Even tho...

Marty and Mel's Adventures

Marty and Mel's Adventures. Posted by melkane in Uncategorized. We love our life! As the time came for us to leave drew closer and closer, it became almost surreal. The last weekend in Mulanje was packed! It was good food, good conversations and tons of dancing- all in our front yard! Poor Marty was up against the wall and had it even worse! 🙂 We then had 14 adult baptisms and then many of those women went to get their babies and we had 12 child baptisms. I was sitting there, sort of zoned out as all of...

Marty & Mindy

My Cup Runneth Over. Aug• 16•13. Aloha Friday… we sat next to the river along a grassy mound in an open amphitheater watching the hundreds of people laughing, enjoying each others company and sampling local drinks from over 100 vendors. The clouds were out in all their glory as if to say, Hey – don’t forget about us, we’re the ones putting on the real show. I went back to Marty and smiled – and shared a deep smile with him that Jeff had just given to me as a gift. Posted in Mindy Blog. We celebrate you S...
