Sunday, December 8, 2013. Today we went to church with a heavy heart wondering if this might be our last Sunday here in Cape Verde. With the call to start a new mission on July 1st of next year, we are leaving this mission 3 1/2 months early to prepare. We do not yet know where our new mission will be, only that it will be Portuguese speaking. But what a tender mercy was in store for us today. The Sacrament Meeting began with the confirming of 7 new members of the ward, who were just baptized yesterday.

Sunday, April 21, 2013. In an earlier blog I wrote about finally being a real missionary. Sandra, our neighbor, who I met taking out the garbage, was listening to the missionary discussion. Just as we finished the second discussion, some of the Sisters I was working with were transferred. That left me with two Portuguese Sisters and an American. Thursday, July 4, 2013. Boa Vista - again - and we hope again soon! They have out grown it. We had 48 members in church on Sunday. We spilled out onto the balcony. And a baptism on Saturday. Which of course had to be held at the beach as there is no baptismal font in their apartment. We loved our stay there as it is a very tourist friendly place. Monday, February 25, 2013. It was the best of times. Of course we will very much miss the old assistant, Elder Cruz dos Santos. He has been very good to us. Sunday, September 29, 2013. Off to the Northern Islands. This is the new patriarch and this young woman had just returned from her mission in Brazil the night before. We met her in the airport. Were my words. If you are offended because you like it, well this is my blog and I can say I thought it was ugly. Our Somewhat Adventurous Life. Sunday, October 14, 2012. Our summer was full of fun, family, and HEAT. We had a great time enjoying the 4th of July Parade. I am amazed we survived it, it was HOT! It is a toss-up with the heat, humidity, and sun here: Cover up and no sunburn but sweat and suffer, or dress in the littlest clothing you have and burn! Our Somewhat Adventurous Life. Friday, May 3, 2013. It has been cool this weekend, and in Texas that is a big deal. Since we knew we were on borrowed time we decided to take advantage of the last cold front we will most likely see until the end of September and went on a walk. A long walk. We are off and away.
