Addition means 'putting together' or adding two or more numbers to find the sum. Subtraction means 'taking away' or subtracting one number from another to find the difference.

There are 4 properties of multiplication. When two numbers are multiplied, the product is the same regardless of the order of the factors. 5 x 4 = 4 x 5 = 20. means factor1 x factor2 = factor2 x factor1 2. Associative. When three or more numbers are multiplied the product is the same regardless of the grouping of the factors. (2 x 3) x 5 = 2 x (3 x 5) 3.(multiplicative). Identity - The product of any number and 1 is that number itself. 3 x 1 = 3 4.Distributive. 2 is the only even prime.

Subtraction is "taking away" or subtracting one number from another to find the difference. 7 - 4 = 3 means:. 1 Subtract 7 by 4. 2 Subract 4 from 7. When you do subtraction the answer you get is the difference. When you Subtract a number from another number you will get the difference. If you subtract a number by zero the difference will be the number itself. If the minuend and subtrahend are same, then the difference will be zero.

Multiplication is the fastest way of addition. When you multiply numbers, the first number is called factor1 and the second number is called factor2 and the third number is called factor3 and so on. The result you get is called Product. When you multiply two or more numbers you will get the product. If you multiply a number with zero the product will be zero. If the first factor and the second factor are same, then that kind of multiplication is called Square.

Division is sharing or grouping a number into equal parts. Dividend - The number being divided. Divisor - The number which divide the dividend exactly. Quotient and Remainder - Result of a division. Sometimes numbers cannot be divided into equal groups. The REMAINDER. Is the number left over in the quotient of a division problem. The REMAINDER must be smaller than the DIVISOR. Divisible by 2 if it is an even mumber,or ends with 0,2,4,6,8. Divisible by 3 if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3.
