Resources for New Teachers. Things I’ve Made. July 30, 2015. One of the ways that I teach solving linear equations (things like 2x 4 = 3x – 5) is by using balance puzzles:. Squares are x’s, circles are constants. The puzzle above is the same as 2x 2 = 8. The solution, at the bottom, is the same as x = 3. Credit.
