Matt Allen Photography

Thursday, August 5, 2010. I know I am very behind in the project, but rather than bore you with excuses I'll just pick up where I left off and try to sneak in a couple a week to catch up. We spent a week in Maine in the middle of July - this marks our third year in a row doing this so it's becoming a bit of a family tradition. The difference from this year to last is that this year we were able to stay at the family camp that we've been re-habbing since early Spring. Posted by Matt Allen Photography.

Matt Allen Photography: April 2010

http://www.mattallenphotography.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 28, 2010. A great piece on Dorothea Lange heard on NPR today. On the drive into work today I heard a piece on NPR. About Dorothea Lange and a new book. Written about her by Linda Gordon. The piece starts off talking about what is arguably Dorothea Lange's most recognizeable image, that of a California pea picker Florence Owens Thompson. The image was taken while Lange was employed by the Farm Security Administration. In March, 1936. To read more about the new book by Linda Gordon. To see...

Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Epiphanie bags is giving away a new camera, and I wanna win it. Camera bags are usually pretty ugly things, mostly utilitarian in design, so it's nice to see a company making camera bags that don't scream "HEY LOOK OVER HERE, THERE'S A CAMERA IN ME". Epiphanie is a camera bag maker that focuses on creating camera bags for women. You can check out their lineup here: www.epiphaniebags.com. If you want to find out more about the contest check it out here:. Thursday, March 25, 2010.

Matt Allen Photography: Week 23: bike cops of Boston

http://www.mattallenphotography.blogspot.com/2010/06/week-23-bike-cops-of-boston.html

Sunday, June 13, 2010. Week 23: bike cops of Boston. I've put three rolls of film through the new Holga panorama camera, the first two were B/W (Efke 50 if you're interested) and third roll was from a new pack of Kodak 400 VC Portra film. I have learned a few things. Third - most police officers are camera shy. I took two more shots from the parade that day, consider them outtakes -. Posted by Matt Allen Photography. Dont stop shooting the WPC! June 13, 2010 at 9:45 PM. June 13, 2010 at 10:46 PM. Thanks ...

Matt Allen Photography: Week 25: Laundry

http://www.mattallenphotography.blogspot.com/2010/06/week-25-laundry.html

Sunday, June 27, 2010. Writers have writers block, so I guess you'd call what I have photographers block. Having a hard time thinking up things to shoot for this 52 weeks project. Typically I just walk around the office building at lunch and whatever catches my eye, I shoot. This has worked pretty well up until now. I feel as though I've exhausted all the shots within a 5 block radius of my building. I wandered through a memorial garden for homicide victims that I had seen before, only when I was there i...

Matt Allen Photography: Week 19: birdwatching

http://www.mattallenphotography.blogspot.com/2010/05/week-19-birdwatching.html

Saturday, May 15, 2010. Who knew seagulls were so friendly? This guy was perched up on a pylon at the end of the Long Wharf near the New England Aquarium. I took his picture from maybe 5 feet away and kept creeping in on him until my lens was about a foot from his beak. He was pretty cooperative. I think he was hoping I'd make with the breadcrumbs. I took a bunch of pictures of this guy, but this one was my favorite. Posted by Matt Allen Photography. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Thursday, June 25, 2009. As my faithful readers know, I signed up for SoFoMoBo. With the full intention of completing a photo book of 30 images in just 31 days. Well, I'm just 6 days to the end of my "month" and I have 15 images that I just absolutely LOVE and 15 images that I haven't even seen, yet. So, what to do? Labels: black and white. Impressions through a pinhole. Thursday, June 4, 2009. My Heart is Broken. As I was making the daily trek to Fredericksburg this morning, I saw a heart-breaking sight.

Friday, February 27, 2009. Trees in the Wind. It's funny to look back at my photography just 7 or so years (postcards) and to see how different I see things now (abstract? It seems the less discernible things in the photograph, the more I "see" in it. I was enjoying the backyard in this very windy, yet warm, winter day with my dogs and my daughter. I liked all the movement of the trees (while hoping they wouldn't fall on the house! Thursday, February 26, 2009. I received an email from B&H. And I discover...

shari pastore photography: January Ramblings

http://inherdarkroom.blogspot.com/2011/01/january-ramblings.html

Sunday, January 2, 2011. Hello my Faithful Followers. It's been a while, I know. I've been doing some soul searching recently on what it is I really want to see and do with my photography. This, of course, causes me to really look at myself and what type of person I really am. And that is kind of scary! Things I've noticed about myself, by looking at my uncompleted past projects. I get bored easily with long term projects. I work well under pressure, which is good since. I need to write things down.

Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Well, I would love to tell you that I haven't had time to post because of all my creative endeavors that have been going on, but that would be so FAR from the truth. Actually, I've been in a creative rut lately and I'm supposed to be working on my SoFoMoBo. I expect being around that many creative alternative photographers will spark the creativity in me. Monday, February 15, 2010. Week 4 - Holga (CotW). So, the selection of the week was from the roll of Ilford 3200 that was completely shot in the back yard during the snow. The Week 5 CotW is the Pinhole Blender Mini 120. Since I have been literally snowed in for much of the week (and I could not stand to take any more pictures of snowy trees), I have extended it through this week. I hope to take it somewhere a little more inspirational. Labels: camera of the week. Tuesday, February 9, 2010. So, this week...

Sunday, July 12, 2009. And So It Goes. I am still working steadily on the book, "Impressions through a Pinhole". I've also installed BookSmart. Where I'll be publishing the book. I've started playing with the layout of the images and have found that many fit so well as a double page spread. I am thinking that I will single out my favorites or the strongest images on a spread of their own. Labels: black and white. Impressions through a pinhole. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Output From Insomnia

I walk into the empty sauna and move toward my usual spot to see that it’s taken by a bottle-shaker that someone’s forgotten. It’s a clear container that’s completely full with a light brown shake it’s obvious someone left their chocolate recovery drink in my spot. I move it over and feel through the plastic that it must have been heating in there for a LONG time. He startles, looks at me suspiciously and asks, Why? Because it will DESTROY the inside of your mouth, dude! You’re welcome, dude. I’m sitting...
