Follow along as I try to figure out how to use Blender, a 3D rendering and animation program. Sunday, November 23, 2008. Noob to Pro Tutorial - Landscapes with Procedures. In the next step of the Noob to Pro tutorial, I found out another way to create landscapes. This way does not use heightmaps like the last one, but rather used procedural textures. This took much longer to render than any previous render. I think it is because I added fractals to subdivide the nodes, and then subserfs on top of it.

I took the model from the last tutorial. And added in some rock texture. I did this by painting the model (vertex paint mode), taking and screenshot, and using that as a stencil.
