Over the hills and far away...: A procrastinatory post
http://jabberingfool.blogspot.com/2010/10/procrastinatory-post.html
Sunday, 24 October 2010. In exactly 10 days I have two assignments due. And then another 3 days after that. Originally they were all due on the same day, but I've just gotten an extension for one. So now seems like the perfect time to write a blog entry! Or you can look at the map. From a couple of posts ago. The weather is turning wintery, it's not getting above 12°C (74°Fish) and there's a nice mixture of rain and sun. The leaves are turning golden, and piling up in little corners, all re...Wrote Dune,...

Over the hills and far away...: It's not homesickness if you don't miss home, so what is it?

Wednesday, 19 May 2010. It's not homesickness if you don't miss home, so what is it? Editor's Note: This blog does not necessarily reflect the mental state of the author, and is merely the by-product of exams and an over-analytical mind. I've been blessed on my current overseas jaunt to have seemingly avoided the curse of homesickness, thanks to quick friendships made, a stable Christian community found in a familiar society with lots to do and an easy routine. I haven't been completely free of nosta...

Over the hills and far away...: October 2009
http://jabberingfool.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Monday, 26 October 2009. I suspect "study heaven" is a contradiction in terms, but if it were possible, this would be it. Perhaps minus the weird smell, which I can't post a photo of. The only problem is that I have to fight the urge to pull out the gardening gloves and get weeding. That's for AFTER exams. If you're reading this on facebook, see the original at. Which is so much cooler than facebook notes. For the first on my overseas adventures next year. Written by Imogen Wegman. Due to a number of com...

Thursday, 17 September 2009. He's up there. mewing in the nerve centre of his evil empire. Sometimes an organisation just blows me over with its independence. Over the past couple of days, I have developed a strong respect for the independence of a certain administrative cell group. This independence is of a special variety. The OED. Over the hills and far away...: January 2010
http://jabberingfool.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 20 January 2010. Today marks the third week since my arrival to the shores of this new land. The weather of which I was warned is present, with a forecast of 'staying cloudy and damp', and although uncertain about its precise location, I am being careful to avoid the dangerous 'Midsummer' area. There is a chance your faithful correspondent will not survive her lessons about Napoleon to Stalin, as there is a great deal of ferocious boredom induced in some of the topics. This has been diagno...

Lay Down Your Weary Tune: Keep It Hid
http://dersongs.blogspot.com/2009/05/keep-it-hid.html
Lay Down Your Weary Tune. Thursday, 21 May 2009. I highly recommend the debut solo album by Black Keys singer and guitarist Dan Auerbach. It's a very solid and surprisingly diverse collection of songs and you instantly get the impression that the Bach is loving the freedom of not doing a Black Keys album (not that there's anything wrong with that) . Has a genuine love for blues music. If this all sounds a bit 'adult contemporary', like something Ray Lamontagne. Would release - fear not! Whispered Words' ...

Lay Down Your Weary Tune: I don't know how to like these bands
http://dersongs.blogspot.com/2009/06/i-dont-know-how-to-like-these-bands.html
Lay Down Your Weary Tune. Thursday, 4 June 2009. I don't know how to like these bands. Not that I feel like I. Like them, but the following are very popular, critically acclaimed, successful bands that I just don't get. I guess there's no great mystery as to why I don't like them; it's just not my type of music, but I'm sure everyone has their own equivalent list, so I'll share mine anyway. I like a bit of 80s hip hop (De La Soul, Public Enemy are great! It feels good to get that out there. Anyone el...
