Highway in the Desert: January 2011
http://greeff.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Highway in the Desert. Friday, January 14, 2011. At the tail-end of our break, we decided to 'get away from it all'! As David works over the weekends, it was a great chance to get away before school starts on Monday (Caris into Grade 4 and Étienne into Grade 6). They harvest water from the fog that rolls inland, and power from solar panels. Despite the hyper-aridity, there were even mammals around. We saw a Springbok in the middle of 'nowhere'! Highway in the Desert: October 2011

Highway in the Desert. Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Discussion on Judges 2:11-23 among the male prisoners:. Point - the cycle of sin, judgement (distress), prayer, salvation, peace, disobedience that repeats itself in Judges. Comment by a prisoner. This is just what we are doing in Namibia! In the time of the colony (under South African rule) we were crying out to God for liberation. Then we got liberation. Then we got peace. Now, what have we done in response? We have forgotten God! Raucous laughter....

Highway in the Desert: March 2011
http://greeff.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Highway in the Desert. Monday, March 28, 2011. A thirsty land indeed. Our water supply in Walvis Bay comes from pipes sunk through the usually-dry Kuiseb riverbed. The now-flowing water has washed away the pipes. The water shortage shall remain until the river recedes and the underground water can again be accessed. The only reason there is a town here at all, in the middle of the desert, is the natural harbour which is now a thriving port. We are deeply reminded of Jesus' promise that. The 320,9 mm of r...

Highway in the Desert: Cape Town sure has changed in 330 years!
http://greeff.blogspot.com/2012/01/cape-town-sure-has-changed-in-330-years.html
Highway in the Desert. Wednesday, January 04, 2012. Cape Town sure has changed in 330 years! In 1680 Matthias Greeff arrived in Cape Town from Germany via the Dutch East Indies. Now his descendants, Étienne and Caris, see it for the first time, too. In the background of the sea photo is False Bay and Muizenberg/Fish Hoek, where David and I studied and met at George Whitefield College, and later married and lived. Wednesday, January 04, 2012. Highway in the Desert: February 2011
http://greeff.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Highway in the Desert. Monday, February 14, 2011. Kuiseb River - water . or chocolate? You can see Etienne in the dry river bed in the January trip to Gobabeb (directly below this posting). In the background, behind David, you can see the red sand dunes (Rooibank) across the river. In the posting below you can see photos of this spectacular red Sand Sea. There was also a church out there, presumably for the Topenaar community. For more about the Kuiseb you can Wiki it. Monday, February 14, 2011.
