Friday, April 11, 2008. Photos: Ft. Sumter ruins, Hunley heads. We went first to Ft Johnson to see one of the attack sites and then on to Ft Sumter by boat. Our guide, Ranger Rick Hatcher, the historian for Ft Sumter and surrounding areas, was a fountain of knowledge and had a lot of fascinating information to give us. He knew and shared with us all the secrets of the fort. We had lunch at a Gullah cuisine restaurant in Mt Pleasant where we learned the secret of good biscuits: very wet dough.

Sunday, April 6, 2008. Last Day in Savannah. Inside the moat and walls we had a good tour from a ranger who showed us all the cannon placements and other workings of the fort. Then we saw 2 cannons being fired. What a resounding noise and great clouds of smoke! A battle of thirty hours either firing or being fired upon must have been tremendous.
