Mawtified: Final Daywalk

http://mawt.blogspot.com/2005/03/final-daywalk.html

Thursday, March 31, 2005. I finished my training with a walk from Cherrybrook to North Ryde. This. Was approximately 20km, (OK, maybe a little less). I ran a bit of the. Way (maybe 5km) as I was a bit late. Overall, it took 3.5 hours. Everything was OK gear wise - shoes with old orthotics, shorts and. T-shirt. Now for the real thing. I'll have to watch the following during. Any hot spots on my feet should be tended to immediately. Likewise for any chaffing hot spots. Thursday, March 31, 2005.

http://mawt.blogspot.com/2005/04/walk-heading-down-wednesday-night-i.html

Monday, April 11, 2005. Wednesday night I headed down to Melbourne and met up with the rest of my team. Fortunately, their flight from Perth arrived just before mine, and our support guy, Kevin, was there to pick us up. He had even practised driving to the airport, having arrived exactly 12 hours before after confusing a "p" with an "a". Oh well. Eight am and we were off. The girls (Tanya and Kimbra) started at a brisk pace, a bit too brisk for Ian and myself. Still, we never got too far apart, a...The w...

Tuesday, March 29, 2005. This day's training was planned to mimic the Trailwalker, in terms of pace (actually, I expect our Trailwalker pace to be a bit slower), clothing (or at least foorwear) and backpack (spot on with this one), so what better place to do it than the Sydney trailwalker course. Most of the route follows a well worn track, but there were a few sections of fire trail. Harry the happy hiker always cropped up at major intersections to point me in the right direction, so there were no n...

http://mawt.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 11, 2007. After meeting up with Gavin, Andrew and Tony in Darwin, we sorted out the car (a fairly new, but basic 4 WD. And supplies (including the cheapest esky. Our trip began with a side trip to Litchfield. NP, to view the north/south aligned termite mounds (as seen on David Attenborough. And a dip in the rapids (plus a short walk). It was the first swim of many. Our first night camping was at Nitimuk. One of many swimming holes. After Katherine, we headed towards Kununurra. After tra...

Mawtified: Kakadu Ya?

http://mawt.blogspot.com/2007/10/kakadu-ya.html

Thursday, October 04, 2007. After traipsing around the Red Centre, I headed north for a 4 day tour of. I joined a small 4wd tour with 6 other passengers (and 2 guides) for an exciting trip around the Top End. The first 3 days consisted of us visiting absolutely gorgeous swimming holes via 4wd and foot (anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours walking), swimming and eating lunch, relaxing for another hour or so before heading back to camp under the stars in a remote camping site. Thursday, October 04, 2007.

Grace and Dunk Adventures: September 2007

http://gracendunkadventures.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Grace and Dunk Adventures. What we're getting upto when we're not in work. Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Well we made it back to Ireland safe and sound on an extremely uneventful flight for a change! Thai airways has just so much leg room but their entertainment system is possibly the worst in the world - slept instead tho so no complaints! Found out that the best cure for jet lag is going to Tara and Colin's wedding and staying there til 5am! Monday, September 17, 2007. Hopefully it'll be a bit more exci...

Grace and Dunk Adventures. What we're getting upto when we're not in work. Saturday, May 3, 2008. Our South America trip in summary. The first thought is how did 7 months go so fast and can it really be over already - its scary! We have had an amazingly diverse and interesting trip, much better then we ever thought it would be (or could have imagined from reading guidebooks), much safer and friendlier and we even managed not to kill each other despite seeing each other basically all the time :). http://gracendunkadventures.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Grace and Dunk Adventures. What we're getting upto when we're not in work. Monday, January 28, 2008. A week of hiking linking Reserve Nacional Lago Jeinimeni and Tamango. Spent a couple of hours on sunday night squeezing everything (8 days food, all our stuff including about 8 books, Spanish notes, tent, sleeping bags, etc) into our packs - part of me thinks this was more tiring then some of the hikes to follow. Off to Caleta Tortel next and then Villa O Higgins. Sunday, January 20, 2008. After 3 hours o...

Grace and Dunk Adventures: Salta - transformation from backpackers to poshpackers

http://gracendunkadventures.blogspot.com/2008/04/salta-and-transformation-from.html

Grace and Dunk Adventures. What we're getting upto when we're not in work. Monday, April 21, 2008. Salta - transformation from backpackers to poshpackers. We also found a little lebanese place which was quite good and very cheap. Saying that I seemed to get at least one hair in every dish we ate - maybe I was just unlucky as there wasn´t that many bald people about but its a bit off putting. Before returning to Salta via Ruta 56 and 34 which were much quicker then Ruta 9. The drivers in Argentina tho...

http://gracendunkadventures.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Grace and Dunk Adventures. What we're getting upto when we're not in work. Monday, October 29, 2007. Arequipa to Uyuni, Bolivia. Left Arequipa at 8.30 on saturday morning, spent 6 hours on the local bus to Puno which is the same time as the tourist bus takes except 4 times cheaper and lots more interesting as its all locals! Baffling. After that we managed to lose him on the train but did see him lurking about Uyuni today . we made sure there was no kiwis on our tour just in case! Booked our 3 day trip w...
