Saturday, April 4, 2009. Twouble with Twitter: funny video! I just stumbled across this video yesterday about Twitter, check it out it's pretty funny! If you listen to everything he's saying it's so true, and quite clever! I like when the big whale comes in after that guy upsets everyone in Twitter (if you're not familiar with Twitter, it's the whale that appears when Twitter's down or is having technical troubles). I also especially like how he says that "we now communicate in bite-sized yippity yaps!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Fan Films: To spoof or not to spoof? Fans now can create their own takes, alternate endings and even spoofs on the films they watch. Second Life does not equal social ineptitude! | this is a blog. it is for class.

This is a blog. it is for class. Citizen media and beyond! Second Life does not equal social ineptitude! In class, we’ve talked about things like Second Life and our identities. specifically, those people that spend plenty of time on the internet. I’d like to address the idea that I’ve seen in a few blogs on our disassociation with the real world, and the impact that social media has on it. In a more general sense, away from MMORPG’s, if you’re interested in things that are different from the...If you...

This is a blog. it is for class. Citizen media and beyond! Fandom as Social Media. I’ve seen a number of blog posts on fandom, so – after pondering fandom extensively for my project, I thought I’d write about it. I like fandom. No – scratch that. I. That must have gone into it. In their 20’s and older, I’d say) sitting at home, obsessing over fictional things (usually fictional, anyway) and writing stories…. may sound a little strange. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. This is a blog. it is for class. Citizen media and beyond! My final post has gradually been working up to a post about myself. Sort of. Specifically, social media and me. Might as well break the rules at the last moment! Although it isn’t exactly tangible. what friendship really is? Spending money for virtual things sounds silly… but isn’t spending money on most things kind of silly? A thought on attention spans. I originally thought I was somewhat immune to the smartphone craze, regarding the whole R...

Social Effects of Citizen Media: January 2009
http://stephsblog-citizenmedia.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 26, 2009. In our class discussion today, following Kaley's seminar, the debate of who has the right to say what is wrong in regards to ethical and racial comments on webblogs. Racism comments are obviously hurtful and wrong, both morally and ethically, as well as homosexual comments; but who is to say what is an isn't acceptable for the web. Are indirect or subtle comments appropriate? Or what about funny jokes? Is regulating blogs impeding on the right of freedom of speech? Recapping the...

This is a blog. it is for class. Citizen media and beyond! A thought on attention spans. I originally thought I was somewhat immune to the smartphone craze, regarding the whole “always connected” thing. I am rarely connected when I’m out and about, and I like it that way. And then I started tweeting from bed. And all of this is because I really, really dislike waiting for sleep. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
