In Rapa Nui the Rapanui speak Rapanui. Also the island and its people are known to have suffered many hardships and abuse since their discovery by the outside world. Their once thousands-strong population of “ancients” decline to just 111 people by the second half of the 19th century due to the effects of famines, epidemics, civil war, slave raids, colonialism, and near deforestation. Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Almost two weeks ago, our little baby turned one. We celebrated the day as a family going to brunch and then exploring the Wildlife Safari Park.
