Wednesday, October 21, 2015. This weekend I got my first taste of New York snow. Luckily, it was just a small amount and it didn't stick. Still, it was enough to make me dread the upcoming winter. After our taste of winter last weekend, I decided that I needed to stock up on everything I'll need to make it through the winter. I ordered a set of Carhartt quilted bib overalls (in pink! And a pair of snow boots. The boots are rated down to -32 F.Hopefully that will be enough. October 25, 2015 at 6:13 PM.

The Junkins fire has been burning west of Pueblo for the past couple weeks. I heard on the news this morning that it's about 89% contained. The smoke in the sky really makes the sunset pop. This weekend I put up the money and attended an Encaustic Painting workshop with a professional artist at our local Fine Arts Center. So what is encaustic painting? It involves applying layers and layers of colored wax to a wood surface. Each layer is fused with a hot gun or a propane torch- not a blow dryer because that doesn't get hot enough. My friend and co-worker is here. She's the one who invited me to the workshop.
