The adventures of Jina and Lucas on their honeymoon. We'll be traveling through Central America, from Belize to Panama, during November and December of 2008. Thursday, January 8, 2009. It's crossed our minds to keep on going. The mysterious map of South America is only a boat ride away. Just like it was hard to imagine what it would be like to be traveling before we left, it's now hard to imagine being home. I'm going to miss reading your beautiful blog. Will you keep it up in Portland? A la Van Halen).

Also, sand baths! Japanese people are incredibly nice and many, both friends and strangers, have gone way out of their way to help me. The food: sushi, tempura, ramen, and my favorite: the all tofu restaurant. Beautiful gardens, temples, and shrines. Extreme appreciation of flowering trees. End of) School Days.

Fukuoka You!: FIS Got Talent!
http://fukuokayou.blogspot.com/2009/05/fis-got-talent.html
Saturday, May 30, 2009. Friday night was the annual FIS Talent Show. I worked with two other teachers to coordinate a range of acts from 3rd through 10th graders. A student recorded some of my favorite acts and posted them on youtube. First is a pop song sung and energetically danced to by a 5th grade student:. One of our 10th graders is going back to Korea next year, so he wrote this beautiful song reflecting on his three years at our school:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Fukuoka You!: Movin on up!
http://fukuokayou.blogspot.com/2009/06/movin-on-up.html
Monday, June 15, 2009. Last winter, on a day when I was feeling rather cold, lonely, and miserable, I noticed a ray of light shining through the clouds, hitting the balcony of the upstairs apartment. Since then I dreamed of moving upstairs, and this week I had my chance. Here is a shot of my old place:. And here is a shot of my new place! I am now on the third floor of the same building where I've been living on the ground floor since August. It is brighter, breezier, and has a view! End of) School Days.

Fukuoka You!: April 2009
http://fukuokayou.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Near Ohori-koen Park there is a "Japanese Garden". This struck me as funny because we are in Japan, so what other kind of garden would you expect? 160;Still, they charged us a few hundred yen to wander the grounds of this lovely garden. I never knew it was there before but I am sure I will go back! I have never taken so many pictures of flowers in my life, but I am so thrilled with the spring I can't help myself! 160;Still, I love Manu Coffee! 160;I was reminded of Portland.
