We made the long drive back to Messenger last Sunday night and it felt surprisingly good to be back to get her home. They were thrilled. They had also had Reg helping them all day as they hadn't done the canal before and he signed on for one more day as well. Stu told us Russo's Italian restaurant in Amsterdam was his favourite on the canal so of course we had to go try it out. Back in the saddle.

We managed to move Messenger through 22 locks and 100 miles to Sylvan Beach, a resort community on the eastern shore of Oneida Lake by last Thursday and since then, we've just sat. Some folks took this picture on top of Boo Boo Hill in Warderick Wells, Exuma Land and Sea Park. We purchased Messenger in 2005 from Detroit and have been sailing her on Lake Erie out of Port Dover Ontario every summer from the Port Dover Yacht Club. Sunday, November 28, 2010. Panama City to White City, Florida. There are many many other boats that will be traveling in the same direction. Although we will have no cell phone tower and our VHF will not be able to reach shore for help, we will have the company through the night with our friends scattered around. We hope for a safe passage and good seas! Once settled on the other side, we will be spending a month in Treasure Island, Florida where many family members will be meeting us for the holidays!

Monday, February 28, 2011. Breezin' on Long Island. Monday, 28 February, 2011. Thursday, Scott and trekked to one of the beautiful beaches here and he found another sea bean! These transit the Atlantic from Africa and land on the eastern beaches here and are *very* hard to find. So now we have 2 heart beans and one hamburger bean. There is a wonderful weathered limestone rock formation just off the beach and it's very dramatic standing watch over the point. The Long Island Breeze resort from the pool deck.

The waterway was lined with tons of huge naval ships including aircraft carriers, destroyers, subs, etc. The kids had played ‘Battleship’ the game recently and were excited to see the real thing up close!
