Mexican Tourists: January 2007

http://mexicantourists.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

They are only here to spend money. Monday, January 29, 2007. Sorry, But I Don't Want the Fences to Tear My Lacoste Polo. Border fortification and the Minutemen may be stopping more than just illegal immigrants crossing the Mexican border into the United States, specifically into Arizona: they may also be stopping people who want to visit the state. According to an October 2006 article in the. Hermès, and Rolls Royce setting up shop in Mexico City. Check out the entire article from the. Posted by Amanda H.

Mexican Tourists: April 2007

http://mexicantourists.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

They are only here to spend money. Monday, April 23, 2007. Taxes were due last week and I, like so many people, was stuck giving good ol. Uncle Sam my hard-earned cash- in this case, $63 to the Arizona government. I only hope that they use some of it to give more funding to the universities. Illegal immigrants are using their taxes to build a foundation in the American system, so that when they do apply for citizenship, they have a background to pull on to bolster their case. However, thanks to wild gene...

Mexican Tourists: Mexican Music on the Radio

http://mexicantourists.blogspot.com/2007/03/mexican-music-on-radio.html

They are only here to spend money. Monday, March 19, 2007. Mexican Music on the Radio. Another sign of the influence of Mexican culture in America is through radio stations. Cable carriers generally carry the same television channels across the country, so everyone gets Univision and Telemundo, among others; however, there is a little more freedom with radio stations, which can change from one mile to the next. And http:/ www.adweek.com/aw/magazine/article display.jsp? Posted by Amanda H. Living on the L...

Mexican Tourists: Wait, Why Are You Here Again?

http://mexicantourists.blogspot.com/2007/02/wait-why-are-you-here-again.html

They are only here to spend money. Sunday, February 25, 2007. Wait, Why Are You Here Again? So I went searching for reasons to come to Arizona. I started out at the Arizona tourism websites, but everything seemed so contrived and forced that I started looking somewhere else: YouTube. I figured that if I wanted a good example of what people actually do when they visit Arizona from Mexico, the best place to look would be a place where they could post videos of their trip. In all of the visits, she visits t...

Mexican Tourists: Do You Know the Way to...Nogales, Mexico?

http://mexicantourists.blogspot.com/2007/02/do-you-know-way-tonogales-mexico.html

They are only here to spend money. Monday, February 19, 2007. Do You Know the Way to.Nogales, Mexico? I made my first trip down to the border this semester on Saturday. Actually, it wasn't just my first trip this semester; it was my first trip down to the border since I was about ten years old. My family preferred the Pacific Coast and places where we had family for travel, so we never went down to Mexico, or much further south than Tucson, for that matter. We didn't plan on actually going into Mexico, s...

Reflections (On the Faces of Our Borders): March 2007

http://facesofourborders.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 25, 2007. Illegal Immigration. Since 1492? We are German. Irish. Polish. We are Italian. Swedish. French. Some of us are English. Hungarian. Romanian. Many of us are African. Asian. Middle Eastern. You see it everywhere - one of the biggest "liberal" arguments for immigration. Illegal immigration since 1492.". That is why many say we, as children of immigrants, are here in the U.S. today. There are even t-shirts that can be purchased, at places like Cafepress.com. Tuesday, March 13, 2007.

Comida Sin Fronteras

http://comidasinfronteras.blogspot.com/2007/03/have-you-ever-been-to-mexican.html

Monday, March 5, 2007. Have you ever been to a Mexican restaurant and heard or seen somewhere in the restaurant that the food is authentic? Why do they say it is authentic? I have found that many Mexican restaurants I have eaten at claim to get their food directly from Mexico. This got me thinking about what food is imported from Mexico? How much does the U.S rely on food imports from Mexico? What is exported to Mexico from the U.S? According to the U.S Department of Commerce. The major imports from Mexi...

Comida Sin Fronteras

http://comidasinfronteras.blogspot.com/2007/03/mexican-food-chains-are-appearing.html

Monday, March 19, 2007. Mexican food chains are appearing everywhere. While driving earlier today I couldn't believe how many fast-food chains I saw driving down Speedway. What caught my attention was how many Mexican fast food chains I am seeing and go to more often. Chains like La Salsa. According to an article in the Daily Utah Chronicle. Mexican fast food is the hottest thing going, as people on the go are looking for alternatives to burgers, sandwiches and pizza.". Here are a few commercials:.

http://renswords.blogspot.com/2007/03/breaking-news-rap-star-saves-parched.html

Monday, March 26, 2007. Breaking News: Rap star saves parched and desperate immigrants. This doesn't have anything to do with my topic, but I found it on my quest for clips this morning. Everybody can relax because rap stars really will save the world some day (In case your prayers have yet to be answered by Jay-Z, maybe send a letter to Tucson's own Swindoe. Environmentally Friendly: Crossing the border is for the birds

http://renswords.blogspot.com/2007/02/crossing-border-is-for-birds_05.html

Monday, February 5, 2007. Crossing the border is for the birds. Last fall, President Bush signed the Secure Fences Act. That will provide close to $2 million to build a 700 miles of fence along the US-Mexico border. Environmental and humanitarian activists and other agencies and groups in opposition of the act seem to think the term "fence" is a dire understatement (some compare the notion to the Great Wall of China and the Berlin Wall in both physical and political light). Will be threatened by a wall.

Comida Sin Fronteras

http://comidasinfronteras.blogspot.com/2007/04/one-of-many-stands-selling-indian-fry.html

Monday, April 9, 2007. One of many stands selling Indian Fry Bread. In front of the church. The end of holy week for the catholic religion resulted in many people visiting San Xavier del Bac Mission. Affectionately called "The White Dove of the Desert." It is south of Tucson and on the Tohono O'odham land. The church primarily serves the Tohono O'odham but is open to all for tours and services. There are many different ways to make fry bread and many different things you can put in it. The Borders of Edu...

Comida Sin Fronteras: January 2007

http://comidasinfronteras.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 30, 2007. Mexican food. I love it. What can I say? I'm Mexican and I know what the real stuff is. I grew up making tortillas and eating beans and rice almost at every meal. I love going to fiestas and bodas because they always serve up the best of Mexican cuisine. From tamales, tacos, enchiladas to horachata I have had it all and I love most of it. Driving through the streets of Tucson it's obvious plenty of other people love it as well. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Environmentally Friendly: Hiking the border

http://renswords.blogspot.com/2007/03/hiking-border.html

Monday, March 19, 2007. When recently planning an afternoon hike on one of Coronado National Forest's trails that neighbor the border, I was expecting to see some action. You know, wildlife.I researched the trail page. Keeping these minor details in mind, I decided to pick a trail outside of Sonoita in the Santa Rita Mountains, a safe 30 miles or so from the border. I still recommend this trail to anyone hoping to "get away" for an afternoon and walk among the sycamores. Flagstaff, AZ, United States.

Comida Sin Fronteras: February 2007

http://comidasinfronteras.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 26, 2007. Tortillas. We all are aware of the corn/flour divide. You can get them thick, thin, small, huge, in different flavors such as jalapeno or garden deluxe, and you can make them almost anywhere. They are one of the most important part of any Mexican dish. Whatever form of tortilla you prefer I am sure grocery stores, restaurants and tortilla factories in Tucson can offer them. 7823 E. Broadway. Saint Mary's Mexican Food. 1030 W. St. Mary's Road. 849 N Anita Ave. 614 N Grande Avenue.
