Sunday, November 25, 2007. I have been trying to finish processing roughly 8GB of photos this weekend so I haven't had much time to shoot. I was waiting for some files to transfer, and took a few pics of things on my desk with the IR camera. A couple snapshots turned into grabbing my desk lamp, a flash and a diffuser (white paper). Photos: Infrared Nikon D50, kit lens, SB-600 manually fired with button, paper diffuser and a halogen desk lamp. For some reason it makes me think of this song.

Monday, November 5, 2007. Sausage Tree Palm Shadow. Infrared photo of a Sausage Tree at Jungle Island. Its hard fruit can weigh up to 15lbs. The encyclopedia says to carefully select the planting site for this tree. duh. That's the tree you plant on the property line between you and the bad neighbors' house, isn't it? It has a handle like the BFG in Doom/Quake. When I squeeze the trigger things around it get warm quick. Photo is a 13 minute exposure of the North Star and my neighbor's pine tree. I used the 2 million candlepower flashlight, an SB-600 flash with a homemade grid spot attached. Is that tiny 'speck' in the sky the North star?

He walked out of a doorway and the photographer just said "this is Courtland", he turned, grabbed my hand, said "hi", flash popped, over in 2 seconds - and that explains the deer in the headlights look.
