The Educated Vegetable: Baby Steps
http://educatedvegetable.blogspot.com/2009/04/baby-steps.html
Monday, April 27, 2009. Because of my sleeping accident I've reconsidered my shoulder rehab strategy, more specifically I've backed up a few steps. I stopped climbing and focused on light weight, high rep shoulder strengthening and scapula stabilizing exercises. I've also added some stretching back into the routine to open my chest and increase shoulder range of motion. I've had some success and figured I'd see how things feel out there on the rocks. You said that just to get me riled.I'm touched.

The Educated Vegetable: Eugene to Santa Barbara: Lessons Learned
http://educatedvegetable.blogspot.com/2014/10/eugene-to-santa-barbara-lessons-learned.html
Saturday, October 11, 2014. Eugene to Santa Barbara: Lessons Learned. Postings seemed like a much more appropriate way to keep folks apprised of my current location and experiences. We need people, but perhaps not in the way you think. Highs and lows make for a better ride. My route took me over many mountain passes so I got to enjoy a whole lot of up and down on the bike. Along the way folks would ask “How’s the ride been? 8220;What have I gotten myself into? 8221; “Why am I doing this? 8221; Sure, it i...

Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Andy locking off on the crux crimp of Monsters in the Maze 5.12b. At Green Dome in Santa Barbara, CA. Watch a group of people with decent technique working a hard boulder problem and you’ll probably notice one of the following things is the reason for their failure:. Holds are too small/slopey (hands/fingers aren’t strong enough). Holds are too far apart (don’t have enough lock off strength). Feet keep coming off (core strength and/or foot placement precision is lacking). The sim...

Sunday, February 1, 2015. A Good Start to the Year. Sending Gangster Hippie Sit Start (V7). In attempt to hold myself accountable for 2015 goals. Monthly updates will ensue. I’ll check January 2015 off as a success. A success not simply in terms of hitting goals, but also in that I’ve enjoyed the process thus far. That’s the point right? Anyways, with no further ado, some updates:. Great progress has been made on my 34th birthday challenge. And Gangster Hippie Sit Start. Not like anyone cares.". 8221; Th...

The Educated Vegetable: August 2012
http://educatedvegetable.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 18, 2012. After Hell, the Laundry. Serenading a new garden. Well, this isn’t the most exciting day I’ve had in while. Some training at the gym, a nap and now hanging out at the laundromat. And while I hate missed opportunity for adventure, there’s something oddly refreshing about this totally “normal” day. In some ways its the perfect way to celebrate the third anniversary of, in Bob’s words “ the quick journey to hell. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Bob Banks -The official web site.

The Educated Vegetable: February 2011
http://educatedvegetable.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 7, 2011. It seems that body can adjust to almost anything. 5 months ago, just days after becoming part machine I couldn’t imagine putting ANY weight on my left leg. Shit, I couldn’t even lift the thing off the bed it was so damn heavy and painful. About this same time, my father says to me, “I bet you’ll be climbing with that thing on in no time! I would have taken that bet. And I would have lost. And as always the looming question. What’s next? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Sunday, March 4, 2012. I’m out of excuses. Shit, it took my first cup of coffee in weeks to motivate this post. Full disclosure - it was a “Rio Cappuccino” at The Last Stand in Eugene. Coconut milk, lime zest, vanilla bean, cardamom and perfect espresso shots. What’s that all about? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Bob Banks -The official web site. The Educated Vegetable: January 2011

Monday, January 17, 2011. I also started looking around the internet for more inspiration. Saturday, January 1, 2011. BDC 2011 - Work smarter, not harder. Finding Bliss via guitar in MT4D circa 2001. Its that time of year once again. Along similar lines, I don’t read nearly enough books, especially for someone that enjoys writing and the power of language. There’s always been an excuse or some other diversion that keeps me from flipping through pages. Its time to change that. I often tell people I was a ...
