Recreational Doses: March 2012
http://recreationaldoses.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, 22 March 2012. Scott and Charlene's Wedding - Para Vista Social Club. This album was self released to 200 vinyl copies and shortly after frontman Craig Dermody went in exile to New York - no launch shows, east coast tours, nothing. Only whisperings of the album were overheard in the smoking area in between sets of forgettable bands when you're 4 schooners and 3 shots of whiskey deep and all you want to do is pick up or get a kebab. Feat members of Bitch Prefect and Wolf and Cub). It's been 30 y...

Recreational Doses: September 2011
http://recreationaldoses.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 20 September 2011. Australian Invasion: Aussie Bands That Deserve More Credit. Believe it or not Australia has a pretty damn good amount of garage/ punk/ noise/ whatever bands brewing in garages and small clubs around the country. Yet for reasons unknown they seem to be over looked by our national y00th broadcaster and "the home of Australia's 'best' new music": Triple J radio. UV RACE - Melbourne. They have recently released their full length LP entitled "HOMO" both on Aarght! The Dirtbombs, Th...

Recreational Doses: July 2011
http://recreationaldoses.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, 23 July 2011. Horror Punk Prescriptions: Misfits. I can't believe the amount of people who still have not listened to the misfits, sure they've seen the famous skull logo - which is now used by skate and surf brands for that authentic "punk" edge - but they've never actually listened to the band, or if they have it's their much lamer new stuff where they started going into some strange hardcore-metal style. In my opinion I think their best album is Static Age. Followed closely by Walk Among Us.

Recreational Doses: Interview with Mordecai
http://recreationaldoses.blogspot.com/p/interview-with-mordecai.html
This is a recent interview I did with a badass band from the burnt-out badlands of Montana USA. It was featured in Negative Guest List's issue #29. Since issue #30 is about to hit the stands I figured the fine folks at NGL will have no qualms with me posting it up here (hopefully). So without further adieu. MS: Tell us about Mordecai. Who are the members, what you play, how you guys met and how you decided to form a band. I can’t really get a good idea why. Are there many similar sounding bands? MS: I gu...

Recreational Doses: Kitchen's Floor - Bitter Defeat b/w Down 7 Inch
http://recreationaldoses.blogspot.com/2012/10/kitchens-floor-bitter-defeat-bw-down-7.html
Monday, 8 October 2012. Kitchen's Floor - Bitter Defeat b/w Down 7 Inch. The latest release from Kitchen's Floor's ever-changing lineup is quite possibly their best stuff yet and easily one of the best 7 inch releases of 2012. Released on the resurrected Negative Guest List record label, the vinyl release contains just two absolutely heartbreaking, bummer-rock jams; Bitter Defeat. The band has had an almost complete lineup change since their Looking Forward To Nothing. If you are at all interested in Kit...

Recreational Doses: Too busy for anything. Time for videos and wine
http://recreationaldoses.blogspot.com/2012/03/too-busy-for-anything-time-for-videos.html
Friday, 2 March 2012. Too busy for anything. Time for videos and wine. Is it just me or are we too busy to do anything we want to do? Anyway, I'm slightly drunk again and rambling, basically what I wanted to get to was that people only really have time for music on the internet if their is enough visual stimulant to go with the aural. Hence why youtube video clips are so popular (as long as they are under 5 minutes - we got facebook statuses to update). Kitchen's Floor - "Back Home" - 18.12.2011. Michael...

Recreational Doses: new shit and shit
http://recreationaldoses.blogspot.com/2012/06/new-shit-and-shit.html
Wednesday, 6 June 2012. New shit and shit. I've been non-existent for quite some time mainly due to lack of access to internet as well as a new job working for the man. I've barely listened to any new music but I'll throw in some things I've been interested in. LIQUOR STORE - YEAH BUDDY. After only a couple of little 7inches and some scratchy live bootlegs the liquor store boys cockily release this massive 2 x LP album. thats a lot of music, and it's all fucking good. Here's a clip, but get the album.
