And how does such “dowery-mindset” behavior (along with hope chests, bottom drawers, trousseaux, etc.) contrast with the rationale behind bride price? Lovely kitchen of bamboo. This is raised, along with the house, on posts about 10-12 feet high. It has a large open hearth, or sometimes two, set into the floor.
