Wednesday, March 24, 2010. Cut" by Patricia McCormick. Reading this book as an adult, it was not one of my favorites. However, had I read it 12-15 years ago as a tween, I'm sure I would have loved it. It is very much a tween book. It is well-written and not overly dramatic but addresses some major issues of the age. She gets a rush of endorphins and feels great. Most of the other girls at Sick Minds are there for eating disorders. Callie feels different and alone. At first she does not speak at all.

Monday, May 3, 2010. Scat" by Carl Hiaasen. I really enjoyed this book. It was fun, exciting, and mysterious. This is definitely the type of book I would normally choose to read myself. Wednesday, April 21, 2010. The Lightning Thief" - The Movie. See last month's blog on "The Lightning Thief.". Like the book, I think this movie would be appropriate for the average tween. The movie is a little more intense due to audio and visual effects so it could potentially be a little scary for younger tweens.
