Living Life in Senegal. Armed by Faith and Winged by Prayer. From Treetops to Theibou Dienne (a brief pictorial recap). On to more important things, as you can see we survived the excitement of the 1st round of elections…and are praying the second round will pass in the same peaceful manner. Here is a brief visual overview of we have been up to recently:. 2 Freezing and Adventuring in Europe:. 3 Our very own Senegalese Valentines:. Living Life in Senegal. Armed by Faith and Winged by Prayer. On the other side of the tracks…. Sometimes, I find myself the most reluctant of candidates. Nothing in me wanted to make the long trek out to this far. Or suburb of Dakar, which does not hold the cleanest reputation. You know, the other side of the tracks.the. However, praise the Lord that His plans are better than ours and that He still uses us even in our reluctance and doubts. I ended up in Senegal, didn’t I? And what seemed so. Our new ado...

Living Life in Senegal. Armed by Faith and Winged by Prayer. My cross-country roadtrip…in Africa. Some friends and I decided we should see more of Senegal…so logically we choose the furthest city in the southeastern corner of Senegal…. This is a sight for sore eyes. After more than a year living in a big developing city, the 'mountains' , trees, and big skies, were incredibly refreshing. I think I had this in my head before moving to Africa for the first time.Dakar is not anything like this. As Psalms 19...

Living Life in Senegal. Armed by Faith and Winged by Prayer. I will be in Senegal for the year: practicing my French, living life with new friends, and most importantly sharing the life and love I have been given through Jesus Christ. I am a work-in-progress to be sure. The inspiration for the title comes from the hymn:. Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken. There are quite a few (wonderful) verses. But I will share the last two with you. I hope to live with. Joy in every station, something still to do or bear.

Living Life in Senegal. Armed by Faith and Winged by Prayer. Just around the corner…. Well, this is a loaded phrase ‘round here, especially in my life. Just around the corner. Is the hot, humid weather. Is the fun-breath-of-fresh-air summer project team. Is the end of two years of living in Senegal. 8230;is my wonderful and dear friend Christy’s wedding! Is a season of waiting, searching, and the unknown. Is trusting God to provide for my friends here who do not know Him. Is trusting God to provide for me.

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Wednesday, June 6, 2012. A brief haiku ode to chapati, my one true African love:. Chapati, you thief. You've stolen my heart and soul. Yum, doughy goodness. Fresh off the hot coals. My tummy bulging with joy. Get in my belly. Back home we don't know. Cheap joys of daily fried dough. We should, don't you think? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" - Jonathan Safran Foer.

Not having to hitchhike to see each other. Zaxby's and fresh veggies and Starbucks and southern barbecue and haircuts and 5 minute DMV trips. Warm and comfy beds, climate-controlled houses and cars, cuddly non-rabid dogs. Realizing I'd only seen her parents once before.unexpectedly in the middle of the Namib Desert at Sossusvlei. 14 The kid...

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Saturday, March 10, 2012. Darkness is a Harsh Term, Don't You Think? Roll away your stone, I'll roll away mine. Together we can see what we can find. Don't leave me alone at this time. For I'm afraid of what I will discover inside. Cause you told me that I would find a hole. Within the fragile substance of my soul. And I have filled this void with things unreal. And all the while, my character, it steals.

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Ten Rules for Returning from Your Time in Africa. Rule #1: Do not eat three ice cream cones and one deep dish pizza on your first day back in America, no matter how much you profess to adore milk products. You will experience dairy overload and want to die. Rule #2: Do not be a dummy. Do not wash your face with cold water. The hot water is there for a reason. Use it! Can you come to my ...

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Monday, June 11, 2012. Glenview in a Day. A ten hour layover in Chicago afforded me the opportunity to spend a day in my hometown suburb of Glenview, IL. What does one do when one has to cram all the best things of this town into one day? 1 Have tea time with Nanny and talk about the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. 2 Entice your dogs with some tunes on the keys. 3 Eat a whole bowl of M&M's. 9 Lay on the sandy beach.

Nan Goes From Nam to Nash. Otherwise known as my journey from America to Africa and back again. Sunday, June 10, 2012. I might even grow accustomed to the storm. Of car horns and vendors. Can there be anywhere else in the world that is such an assault on the senses. Those who know the country though just go about their business. But nothing can prepare the uninitiated for this riot. Of noise and color - the heat, the motion, the perpetual teeming crowds. Initially, you're overwhelmed. How Sweet It Is.

Monthly Archives: April 2012. City of Rocks trip. Finally, it is warm enough to get outside without snowshoes, skis, or boots. It’s officially time for climbing, hiking, and cycling! This time of year tends to be kind of rainy, but I think that there are actually more sunny days than gray ones. When I left work on Tuesday afternoon it was in the mid-60s, so Matt and I decided to drive to an even warmer destination where we could camp, hike, and climb around on some big rocks. Monthly Archives: June 2012. But for now, I’ve invested in a great book called The Dairy-Free and Gluten-Free Kitchen. First of all, thank you to all of you for your encouragement in my writing. My first attempt at water drops – they’re certainly far from perfect yet, but I’ll keep practicing! June 29, 2015. June 29, 2015. Me and Dave went down to London on the 18th March for the weekend. We visited some tourist places, but the most interesting place for me was Brick Lane – it was full of weird and wonderful sights! I think I need to get over my shame. Anyway, I got a few pictures on brick Lane of a couple of the characters, and I’ve added them below. June 3, 2011. June 29, 2015. June 3, 2011.
