Saturday, February 28, 2015. Cape Town, South Africa. For February break this year we decided not to go skiing, but rather to South Africa! We've always said we would go on a safari in South Africa sometime, and we decided it was finally time! We flew from Zurich directly to Johannesburg, then connected to Cape Town. After a few days in Cape Town we flew to Port Elizabeth then went on safari in Shamwari Game Reserve. It really was a perfect trip! We stayed at an apartment in the Victoria and Alfred Marina.

Wednesday, April 17, 2013. For Easter holidays we had a great trip planned to see the tulips in Holland and visit Heidelberg, Bruges and Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg on the way. But is has been freezing in Europe! She narrowed it down to a couple of options (Abu Dhabi was the other option), and we went to Egypt! We flew into Cairo and spent one day just outside the city at the pyramids in Giza, then flew down to Sharm el Sheikh on the Sinai Peninsula. It was incredible! What a great vacation.

Saturday, August 24, 2013. First Day of School, 2013-14. Tuesday, August 20th, 2013, was Meredith's first day of Kindergarten (in Switzerland there are two years of kindergarten, equivalent to Early Years 1 and Kindergarten at the international school, or preschool and kindergarten in the US). She goes to a Swiss Kindergarten on a farm, at the same location as her preschool for the last 2 years. But moving to Kindergarten is a big deal! Meredith's teacher is Claudia Dubs. Friday, June 6, 2014. We had a great 4-day weekend in Rome! Who goes to Rome for the weekend? Luckily we can do that when we live in Zurich. Dave and I had been to Rome before we moved to Europe on a Bain trip, but the kids hadn't been. We took the train from Zurich to Milan, then the high-speed train to Rome. We stayed at a cute little hotel called Hotel Regno in the center of the city, a block away from Trevi Fountain. The great food began at the Milan train station! An interesting street performer.
