The view from my handlebars...: September 2014
http://bitchonabike.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
The view from my handlebars. A glimpse into the mind of an interdisciplinary researcher. Sunday, September 21, 2014. With the UN Climate Summit. Going on this coming week, I was inspired to write about all the small things that we do for the good of Planet Earth. Everyone was complaining about the record heat wave we had last week. We closed the blinds in my classroom to reduce cooling cost. We dried our laundry on a clothesline. We ate our food raw. I got to ride my road bike this weekend. Cowabunga!

Roe Valley roadster ride 11.05.13. We woke up on saturday morning to wind and rain so things were not looking good for our VCC ride. Seven members traveled to the ride and as we left Limavady the rain stopped and we soon joined the small lanes in the local country side in the flat lands of Myroe. All machines ran well as we traveled along the small roads and when we finished the ride tea / coffee plus food was enjoyed by all. Resillion brake lever on the Andy Parker. The Retrogrouch: Throwback Thursday - On a Friday: Vintage Schwinn Ads

Friday, July 31, 2015. Throwback Thursday - On a Friday: Vintage Schwinn Ads. I've always had sort of a soft spot for Schwinns. I know a lot of Retrogrouch fans do, too. My first really nice bike was a Super Le Tour, and while I would go on to own nicer bikes over the years, that one really helped me catch the bug. One thing unique about Schwinn was that they always had a strong commitment to adult cycling - long before it became popular during the Bike Boom of the early '70s. Here's an old one - 1963, I...

Thursday, 28 July 2011. Exhibiting a few of my machines. I was giving some thought to exhibiting a few of my machines an a vintage rally, then I had a thought could our section not put on a display of our best machines at a show, and when people drop by for a look they could be handed a flayer about the V-CC and told a little about our hobby. I think this would be good publicity for the Northern Ireland Section. Any thoughts? Links to this post. Friday, 8 July 2011. Links to this post. What Have We Here?

Breaking Chains and Taking Lanes. Bicycle Adventures in the Great White North. In Defence of Bike Lanes. How bad could they be? This required an exploratory mission to the south side via 97th Street. The first thing I noticed as I turned onto 97th was that there wasn’t anything demarking it as a bike route. Upon closer inspection, things started to become clearer. The game is spot the sharrow! Then, I saw it:. A newly constructed roundabout! And I bet someone’s pretty pissed about it. The residential sec...
