The last surviving agriculture site in the city of Pittsburgh had just been reduced in price and development vultures were circling. Saturday, March 24, 2007. It's like a wildlife freeway into Pittsburgh. Deer stroll from birdfeeder to birdfeeder in dense city neighborhoods, wild turkeys block traffic. Summer 2015 Bread Share. The property now owned and operated as Mildred's Drumlin Farm was purchased in 1956 by Mildred and Helmut Haendler. Mildred gave her homestead the name Drumlin Farm. Their son Steve has lived on 19 acres of this property his entire adult life. When the decision was made in 2008 to pursue market gardening as a business it was found that the Drumlin Farm name was already in use.
