A 2014 Continental Divide Trail Through Hike. Out of the desert! April 30, 2014. Crazy Cook Monument to Lordsburg, NM. 8221; I think I’ll do more than suck it up. I’m loving it so far. I love cowboy camping in the middle of nowhere in the desert.The stars are amazing at night. Lordsburg has been a great trail town, very friendly. Next stop 60 miles down the trail to Silver City. Entering Colorado before we hitched into the town of Chama, NM was an exciting milestone. We had finally reached a new state! That was a delightful surprise! A 2014 Continental Divide Trail Through Hike. Fun Facts about the Continental Divide Trail (CDT):. The CDT extends from the Mexican Boarder to Canadian Boarder. The CDT crosses 4 states: New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana (with brief stops in Idaho). The mileage of the trail is anywhere between 2,700 miles and 3,100 miles.
