New PB and dune run analysis. Well it has been happening every bluddy weekend so why not again huh? Yep another PB, but this time only by 11 secs! Dune 12.5k run - 54:18. I went out with an intent to not go for a PB, but then as always I think to much while running and my brain and heart ganged up against me and said that my weekend dune run should always be a very fast paced session, so why not go for it. I couldn't argue. A couple of things strike me as interesting. Overall. really pleased. The...I hav...

Didam here I come! Just signed up for my first Oly distance traithlon of the year. Didam (9th July). The get a bottle of champagne from a friend! I have a standing bet with a triathlete friend that the first one of us to get under the 2:30:00 time for an Oly will get a bottle of sparkly from the other one. So can I do it? Hmm 25hrs is a tough goal, but here is how I want to race in Didam. That will give me a time of 2hr20min (with 10mins to spare). Do I need the 10mins? So it will be close! I am fat....

2005 race results - the story so far. Since my life changing race in August (which started the diet etc) it has been one heck of a turnaround. Pre-August 2004 in all of my races I finished bummed out. Not only did it not look like I would get any more PBs but I wasn't achieving what I hoped for (mainly because I was hoping for too much). My partner would hear the same thing on the phone after the race. "i just blew up", "awful race", "oh well, next year" blah blah. Now the story reads like this. The reas...

Weigh-In: Back to Previous. Current Weight 31 Mar 05. Originally uploaded by milkywaye. Just a quick blog to give a weight update. I am now back to my weight before the difficult dieting times of the last couple of months. I am really looking forward to next week's weigh-in as I should be able to go below my lowest mark so far! You can tell I come from a banking environment as I am now plotting outperformance! So for those statistically inclined. enjoy! Hmm I wonder if I can lot it against the FTSE?

Oooh I am feeling a whole heap of emotions ahead of my first Olympic distance triathlon of the year (and only my second one ever at that distance! I am really feeling pressure now which is entirely coming from my own mind. To put that in perspective I haven't done a decent PB since '98 in my first marathon year, so to hit 3 great races in a row is incredible (and hopefully a result of the hard work I have put in! It is now time to chill. time to prepare and. time to focus. I took it to the mechanic at lu...

How much is unreasonable? At what point is training and racing 'unreasonable' in a family environment? For me my training breaks down as follows. 5 days per week of cycling 2hrs per day (this is my commute into work). Up to 3 days on average per week of doing an extra half hour in the morning (either swimming or running). this is done before I bike into work. A 1 hour run at the weekends. This comes to around a total of 12.5 hrs on average of training. So is that too much? Well lets have a closer look.

PB justifies racers and race plan. A Sport Junkie's Desk #2. Originally uploaded by milkywaye. I deliberately went for a PB this morning with the run into work (24km) to see if my aspirations were actually founded. The goal for a half marathon in 3 weeks (CityPierCity) is to run 1:38. To put that in perspective. my fastest half is currently 1:45 and that was years ago! But the weight loss is going well and so is the training (especially this Pose running style malarky) so I am keen to go for it. Since lo...

Oops no more chocolate for me! Got on the scales and they told me some bad news. have put a couple of KG on. Will update the graph as soon as I resist the trend and start losing it all again. The reason is simply running practice. I seem to have not been running for ages. In the last few weeks the only running i have done was at the Oly triathlon I did a couple of weeks ago! But lots more running! Posted by Milky @ Wednesday, July 27, 2005. Where the heck did he come from? Where did he come from? Hahahah...

Run Into Work: DNF. Recorded my first DNF. Ran into work today (24k) and had to stop at around 18k and catch the tram in for the the rest of the way. It was just too painful to carry on (for a training run). This is the first time in 3 years that I have stopped at any point during the run into work. let alone giving up. This really doesn't bode well for the DamTotDam. Run (16k) in 4 weeks time! I was planning on chasing a good time (sub 1:10), but this morning I recorded 1:24! To see how far I went.
