Monday, 24 August 2015. Healthcare and the Toshav Chozer - Returning Oleh. Healthcare / medical issues for a returning immigrant Toshav Chozer. From asking in two social networking groups I discovered the following. Those who are returning Olim are usually notified prior to returning of the delay in their Kupat Cholim being reactivated. Bring enough meds to carry you through for about 6 - 8 months. There are some Gemachim for medication that might assist but will require a prescription. Meds obtained...

Welcoming Olim: July 2015
http://welcomingolim.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, 26 July 2015. Tisha B'Av 2015 / 5775. It's Tisha B'Av, a very hot day in Israel. As we fast and mourn the destruction of our Holy Temple I wonder what will it take for us to wake up and make the changes necessary to merit the final Temple? Will we stop our stiff necked arrogant defiance and start to live life G-d's way? I'd love to write something inspiring but I am left with wondering, do we have what it takes? Can we do it? Wednesday, 7 January 2015. The Storm Begins in Israel. It's has been a flurry of excitement the last few days in Israel as we prepare for a snow storm. Snow is predicted for today and for Friday. The stores have been filled with shoppers stocking up not for a Chag but for potential snow. As Wednesday dawned, many ran to their windows to see if the snow had arrived. An hour ago, just before 13h00, I spoke to a friend in Yerushalayim who was disappointed that it was not even raining yet. Links to this post.

Welcoming Olim: March 2015
http://welcomingolim.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 29 March 2015. This time of year is a very special time to be in Eretz Yisrael. As most Yidden are busily preparing for Pesach, there are details that need reminders. 1) Cleaning is to remove any Chometz. It is of course wonderful to clean away any dust and make sure your home is clean, neat and in order, but if you are pressurized for time, the rule of thumb is to make sure you have removed all Chometz. Any other cleaning is extra. If in doubt, check with your rabbi. Links to this post. I really ...

The law and the practice:. The law pro...
