A Double Life: A Good Day
http://trippdibble.blogspot.com/2009/02/good-day.html
Sunday, February 01, 2009. Today's been a good day. First of all, I got to administer the oath of enlistment for an Air Force staff sergeant here who just signed up for a few more years. That was a first for me, and I was pleased he asked me to do it. But seriously, I was honored to be able to meet him. The best part is that there are thousands of other Americans with his same attitude here in this country and elsewhere. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Las Vegas, NV. View my complete profile. A Double Life: January 2009
http://trippdibble.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Amid all the pageantry of this year's Presidential inauguration, something was missed. The second time it was missed, it was missed by most media outlets. It shouldn't be overly surprising, given the subject matter, but it is disappointing. For the first time since it was established at President Eisenhower's 1953 inauguration, a newly-elected President has not attended The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball. This ball is solely to honor all the deceased and living recipient...

A Double Life: Oh, how I love meetings...
http://trippdibble.blogspot.com/2009/02/you-would-think-that-being-in-war-would.html
Saturday, February 14, 2009. Oh, how I love meetings. You would think that being in a war would mean certain things. For one, you would think that things would be exciting (possibly even dangerous) all the time. For another, you would think that there wouldn’t be as many boring meetings as you get back home. You would think that. And you would be wrong. Obviously, exciting doesn’t always mean good. And in a war, exciting often means bad. So it’s okay when things aren’t exciting. Perversely, although this...

A Double Life: November 2008
http://trippdibble.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2008. Why I'm Not Crazy (much). My wife thinks I’m nuts. Not padded room and straitjacket nuts, mind you, but still. Of course, if pressed, she might admit that her description might be closer to obsessed, but I know the look she gives me starting late each November, and to me it says one thing: “This guy is N-U-T-S.”. Another tradition that I liked was when my family would go see a movie on the day after Christmas. So what’s the end result of all of this? Thursday, November 27, 2008.

A Double Life: October 2008
http://trippdibble.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 26, 2008. A lot has been said about the economic crisis and why we're in this mess. And people much smarter and more fluent than I have outlined the various arguments. But Orson Scott Card, noted author, has the following to say here. Please keep in mind as you read his piece that he's a columnist for a newspaper and a registered Democrat. I suppose I should be shocked that the media is unable to get to the root of this issue, but I'm not. Wednesday, October 22, 2008. A few weeks ago (two?

A Double Life: September 2008
http://trippdibble.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2008. I've been on some short flights before. Denver to Salt Lake City comes to mind. For that matter, Denver to Colorado Springs. But this was by far the shortest flight I've ever experienced. Excepting that time the trolley car threw me across the pavement, but that was entirely unintentional. The flight lasted a grand total of 10 minutes. Including taxi time. It was actually quite a nice flight on a nice little plane. Jenn would have been scared out of her mind. That's n...I was...

A Double Life: March 2009
http://trippdibble.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Well, I got home just over a week ago, so I've been lazy about posting here. But it's nice to be back home. What's even more remarkable is that now the air here in Las Vegas feels nice and clean. I guess that's what six months of being able to see the air you're breathing will do, though. What I can't believe is how much Elizabeth has grown while I've been gone! The day I (finally) got home after over three days of travelling. Sunday, March 15, 2009. It's Been Too Long. People I ...

A Double Life: December 2008
http://trippdibble.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 24, 2008. A lot of people around here have tried to decorate as much as they could for Christmas. Although none of these decorations are that great by normal standards, they certainly help out considering where we are. This is the tree in front of ISAF headquarters. A small star over the office of some folks down the street. The French guys nearby put out a nice display. This is looking off of my hallway. Additionally, there's a great piece about President Reagan and Christmas here.
