The Spyglass: Nitric grace
http://the-spyglass.blogspot.com/2011/02/nitric-grace.html
A wandering eye over religion, politics, and other important matters. Monday, February 14, 2011. The gospel of grace is a universal acid that dissolves all the pretensions, presuppositions and preferences of this world order. If you're not feeling it burn, you're probably not preaching Jesus. Posted by Rob Harrison. Categories: Religion and theology. Good comment although if youre looking for a more universal acid I would go with Aqua regia instead of nitric acid. Hemmersphere: The LUTHERAN Witness
http://hemmersphere.blogspot.com/2011/12/lutheran-witness.html
Tuesday, December 13, 2011. Does the Lutheran Witness. Set the paradigm for all things Lutheran? If so, the December issue normalizes for Missouri Lutherans things classically Lutheran like saints, crucifixes, rich church architecture, first communion prior to Confirmation, a pastor's study, repentance, and maintaining the distinction between Advent and Christmas. Gee whiz. Really? Those things are Lutheran. If you don't subscribe, you should. Thanks for adding perspective to what it means to be Lutheran.

Riding for the brand. Good Horse – Bad Horse. Keeping My Walk Fresh →. Would you want to push 1,000 head of these 900 miles? January 23, 2011. On my most recent trip back home to Texas I stopped to photo these longhorns. My experience with this particular steer proved the reports of their cantankerous nature to be true. Notice the particular focus of attention this outfit has on me? I know enough about cattle to know that a wire fence is just a suggestion as to where the pasture is if the bovine decides ...

The Spyglass: Credit and thanks
http://the-spyglass.blogspot.com/2010/12/credit-and-thanks.html
A wandering eye over religion, politics, and other important matters. Friday, December 31, 2010. A couple weeks ago I put up a post called "God is in the real,". Talking about a lesson God had been bringing home to me that week; it was a point I had seen made somewhere before, but I could not for the life of me remember where. Yesterday afternoon, my lovely wife was good enough to point me back to the original post. Posted by Rob Harrison. Categories: Religion and theology. Thank you for the link and post.

Luther Library: Even Death: A Novel
http://lutherlibrary.blogspot.com/2009/10/even-death-novel.html
Even Death: A Novel. Not often do we find a novel that uses "A Novel" as its subtitle. Then again, not often do we find a Lutheran pastor who actually writes. A novel so maybe the signpost is needed. Of course, when we discover that a pastor or anyone with strong religious convictions has written a work of fantasy or fiction, we do well to investigate. After all, for every engaging, well-written, piece of Christian fiction (e.g., The Year of the Warrior. I don't want to reveal too much, so here is a summ...

Grace, mercy and peace be unto you from God our Father and from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. But, in addition to what we heard, I want to read a parable that goes with it, verse 28, "What do you think? Our lives are different than what goes on in a movie in general or in Star Wars in particular, but life has its share of t...
