Tuesday, 10 August 2010. Bank Holiday Fishing Plans. Just wondered if the cov/warks bloggers had any plans for the bank holiday Monday coming up? Thought it might be fun to meet up and get a few hours of fishing in somewhere local? 10 August 2010 at 14:06. Ill be up for it Kev. 10 August 2010 at 14:51. Got any venues in mind? The Occasional Angler: March 2010
http://theoccasionalangler.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Monday, 22 March 2010. On Sunday I took part in the Cod fishing challenge from Grimsby/Cleethorpes with my dad and uncle Ben. Ben works at the marina and has a lovely boat called the Coastal Surveyor. Tuesday, 9 March 2010. Jeff replied, this is when I hoped I had read up on the right place. Friday, 5 March 2010. Is it a sign? Last night I dreamt of a 10 pound bream - is it foresight for the weekend? Or just my wishful subconscious? Tuesday, 2 March 2010. Yes I know. its been a very very long time! I've ...

The Occasional Angler: Reels
http://theoccasionalangler.blogspot.com/2010/08/reels.html
Thursday, 5 August 2010. This is my main reel for feeder fishing, it has a mammoth capacity taking over 350 yards of 15 lb line. I use 4 lb line with plenty of 8 lb backing line. This is fantastic for distance casting and has a rear drag system. This lives up to its nickname of 'the coffee grinder' with its distinctive noise made from its geared innards. I can't fault it! Loaded with 4.4 lb Drennan float line. 10 August 2010 at 14:58. Update for the Ryobi spool - I think that Masterline may have bought o...

From the banks of the Wye: A National Bird
http://daveburrsblog.blogspot.com/2015/03/a-national-bird.html
From the banks of the Wye. March 17, 2015. Do we really need such a thing? What will a National Bird achieve? I can't imaging the Union Jack being altered to accommodate it's image so its just another one of those pointless pieces of fluff designed to take the mind off of important matters like which shower of incompetents are we going to elect to screw us over for the next five years. Should this bird mirror us by its behaviour or is it just a popularity contest? They will happily kill each other as the...

From the banks of the Wye: April 2015
http://daveburrsblog.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
From the banks of the Wye. April 28, 2015. Bunny 1931 to 2015. When you meet somebody who, without a hint of irony, introduces himself as "Bunny" you know that you are in for an interesting journey. Having travelled that journey for nearly twenty years I can happily state that it has been fun all the way. Of all the tales I can relate about Bunny this is my favourite and oddly, it was when he caught a two pound plus roach which was very much against the grain. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). From the banks of the Wye: August 2014
http://daveburrsblog.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
From the banks of the Wye. August 17, 2014. Welsh Wildies and things that creep and crawl. Some of the Gathering. We sat beneath a clear sky chatting whilst watching satellites and shooting stars. At some ungodly hour Stu did his cockerel impression and stirred the camp. He really is a great cock. With much coughing, farting and scratching we drank life infusing coffee and were ready to go when, at 7.15 Stu started making bloody toast. He really is a great. I refused to fish from one and began my assault.

From the banks of the Wye: May 2015
http://daveburrsblog.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
From the banks of the Wye. May 11, 2015. Nostalgia and a warning. I was in Taunton today, the town of much of my youth and adult working life. Its normal to feel nostalgia when in your home town I guess but a stroll around French Weir really set the memories flooding back. All that remains is the stump. The salmon steps - there were no warning signs in my day :o). Now think - when you fish with your mates, how often do you get a shot of both of you together? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). From the banks of the Wye: June 2015
http://daveburrsblog.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
From the banks of the Wye. June 25, 2015. I cursed the wrestling ability of bedchairs and sleeping bags as I set up my little shelter next to the lake. Its the worst bit of making your temporary home as the bed is heavy, unwieldy and barely fits in it but I scored two falls and won the bout. Do you know what I mean when you have doubts about your hook hold? I had full confidence in my set up but I was wondering about just how this fish reacted to the pressure. or maybe it was just BIG! This was followed ...
