Mrs Sew n' sew

Mrs Sew n' sew. Monday, March 19, 2018. On the weekend I finished block #6 of Radical Rose and Reel. I had to lay them out together to see how it's coming along. Three more blocks and then borders to applique - so many hours of happy stitching to look forward to :0). Here's the 6th block. I've also made considerable progress on handquilting my Lily quilt. I'm halfway around the wide border with a feathered vine. I just love quilting feathers! Of course exciting visitors deserve exciting dessert! It was ...

Mrs Sew n' sew: July 2015

http://mrssewnsew.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Mrs Sew n' sew. Thursday, July 30, 2015. I am very happy to be handquilting again! Other than a few stitches in the doll swap quilt I made I haven't been handquilting since May when I finished up my Crowfoot quilt. I have really missed it.. It's a bit warm to have all this quilt on my lap in the summertime but I open the window and let the cool evening breeze in. So far I am just outlining the applique. I'm not sure how I'm going to quilt the rest - I hope it speaks to me as I go :0). Here you can get a...

Mrs Sew n' sew: beach sewing

http://mrssewnsew.blogspot.com/2015/07/whew-summer-is-busy-weve-been-back-from.html

Mrs Sew n' sew. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Whew - summer is busy! We've been back from visiting my parents (and the beach) in Kelowna for almost 2 weeks. I made a good start on my new quilt patis project :0) . I love how these colors look together. Here you can get a glimpse of how this project will fit together. I am eager to see it grow! I also hosted my quilting group's summer potluck and the "luck of the pot" was very yummy! July 14, 2015 at 5:46 PM. Oh my, that cake looks delish! That cake is amazing!

Mrs Sew n' sew: May 2015

http://mrssewnsew.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Mrs Sew n' sew. Sunday, May 31, 2015. I was excited to find a package on the doorstep on Friday :0) A doll quilt arrived from Katy. It's a wonderful little quilt with so many great fabrics in it. It's fun to study them - I don't have a single one of these repros in my stash. The machine quilting is quite wonderful as well. It adds so much texture. I love it - thanks Katy! For organizing the swap! Monday, May 18, 2015. 5 years to finish. Well it only took 5 years but I finished my Crowfoot quilt! I have t...

http://mrssewnsew.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Mrs Sew n' sew. Saturday, June 27, 2015. What is it about new projects? So exciting :0) This project is a result of my emergency sewing. That I started back in December. I had a mini charm pack of Potluck and I started making hexies. Well this week the hexies became flowers and now I'm thinking about what to make with them. (and wishing I had bought 2 mini charm packs.). I like them with this busy grey polka dot. I'm probably going to make a pouch or bag. Labels: Bird of Paradise. Monday, June 22, 2015.

Every Stitch: The Burnt Quilt

http://everystitchblog.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-burnt-quilt.html

Wednesday, 7 November 2012. I have been working on The Burnt Quilt aka "Oh dear, Mrs Tompkins" (Di Ford's lovely reproduction pattern ) - using the Dutch chintz central panel in the centre. I am also using a small stash of Dutch chintz florals in the big stars, though I hate chopping them up. If you know the pattern, you might see I have avoided doing the tricky inner borders by replacing them with appliqued red stars (fun to do with English paper piecing) . That is what I am working on at the moment.

Every Stitch: August 2015

http://everystitchblog.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Monday, 10 August 2015. My new quilt is progressing quite quickly. I only showed a snippet last post as I had to sort a few design "issues" (grrr) that I had with it. Now there is more to show. Might be a. Here is the broderie perse centre for the quilt - all cut from Tree of Life. It was a bit of a mess at first auditioning the pieces - so hard to visualise at that stage! Some drafting of patterns. Am I making it sound simple? Well I didn't find it that way! Then some needle turn applique. Now for somet...

Every Stitch: Merry Christmas!

http://everystitchblog.blogspot.com/2014/12/merry-christmas.html

Wednesday, 24 December 2014. I didn't think I'd manage it, but here it is . a Christmas post. Nothing like a last minute deadline. I finished the hand quilting on my Four Block applique quilt. And bound it just in time to hang it with the Christmas tree. And when I say "not perfection" that includes nicking the background with my scissors (insert ladylike expletive at the time) - not just once, but twice -. Making two little holes! Wedding quilt: Block 12 finished - a relatively simple one this time.

A condition with no known cure. Quilt sale room report →. 12 x 12 catch up. September 18, 2013. I am caught up for our September theme (doors)! Man, does that feel good. I missed the last two meetings so I procrastinated making the quilts. My Season theme idea is not my favorite but I did try two new (for me) techniques–stick-on crystals and couching. In an effort to show more process (and there is a lot of it in these little art quilts), here are the evolution shots of my snake and my grass🙂. Address n...

Tuesday, 23 June 2015. I'm back from a fun mini break in Sydney - visiting the Quilt Show followed by a Sydney city hotel stay with my daughter, meals out and shopping. So many exciting experiences crammed into a short stay! I took 101 photos of the Quilt Show but due to the strict publishing rules cannot show individual quilts without permission. The collection of red and white quilts were so pretty en mass. There are pics on the Quilt Guild blog. But just saying .how lovely it looks and feels. We had a...
