Life in the 4th Grade

Life in the 4th Grade. Thursday, March 3, 2016. I'm not really participating in SOL this year. It's just too much with all of my graduate work, teaching my class, and a student teacher. In the mean time, if you want to read some excellent book reviews (I got an "A") head over to my other blog. This semester, I am taking two classes: School Library Media Center and Storytelling. So, I might pop in from time to time, but for now, I will lurk in the shadows. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. One, maybe April. Procra...

Life in the 4th Grade: Just relax

http://mrsware4thgrade.blogspot.com/2015/03/just-relax.html

Life in the 4th Grade. Friday, March 27, 2015. I spent the day covering my classroom walls to ensure that my students wouldn't get any extra help on STAAR. My room looks absolutely ridiculous, and I am ready for the tests to be over! I think my students feel that way, too. What a treat to spend an evening creating with your mom. Life in the 4th Grade: Busy Hands are Happy Hands

http://mrsware4thgrade.blogspot.com/2015/03/busy-hands-are-happy-hands.html

Life in the 4th Grade. Sunday, March 29, 2015. Busy Hands are Happy Hands. Procrastination and avoidance have been my friends this weekend. I have found ways to be busy, busy, busy, but there is no way to avoid it. It is here.the dreaded TEST! I can only hope that the wheels are finally in motion to get us off of this crazy ride. The undue stress placed on teachers and students has to go. There are a multitude of different ways to test student performance and progress, but this test isn't it.

Life in the 4th Grade: Fine Line

http://mrsware4thgrade.blogspot.com/2015/03/fine-line.html

Life in the 4th Grade. Monday, March 30, 2015. If I haven't mentioned it, I truly hate everything about this test, from its ridiculous rules to the way the questions are written and even the amount of money the state pays to Pearson. Now, I can include the problems it causes in families. I am encouraged by some of the legislation coming out of Austin, so hopefully, parent's voices are finally being heard, and change is coming. Life in the 4th Grade: June 2008

http://mrsware4thgrade.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Life in the 4th Grade. Friday, June 27, 2008. The circus is in town. Today was also Mom-o's birthday. Mom-o is my mom, and she works close by so we went to see her this afternoon, too. Otherwise, we had a pretty uneventful day. We have plans this weekend, though, so maybe something fun will happen. Thursday, June 26, 2008. How fast the time goes. That's all for now. I'm going to get a few hours of sleep before Hudson demands to be fed again. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Slice of Life Challenge.

This year, I am choosing to PRACTICE. 8212;even when it's hard. If training is the essence of transformation, then I guess I need to develop routines and habits that reflect my beliefs. Writing Momentum: Opinions Galore!

http://writingmomentum.blogspot.com/2016/11/opinions-galore.html

There isn't any secret. You sit down and you start and that's it." Elmore Leonard. Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Writers look closely at the world, they see and feel things intensely. What did you see or feel today? The RTI process is cumbersome, and it disempowers teachers. The month of October is insufferably long! Happens to be the best show on television right now. Teachers have too many plates to spin and not enough time to keep them spinning. All Americans should vote their conscious on Nov. 8. I love...

Writing Momentum: Be Political: Our Humanity Depends On It

http://writingmomentum.blogspot.com/2016/09/be-political.html

There isn't any secret. You sit down and you start and that's it." Elmore Leonard. Saturday, September 24, 2016. Be Political: Our Humanity Depends On It. The only read-aloud I have shared with every class of students I've taught is A Line in the Sand. Fast forward to Saturday morning when Chris Lehman eloquently challenged educators to engage in civil discourse about politics during the Fall EdCollabGathering. And the Standing Rock Sioux Pipeline Protest. Unfortunately, the current political landscape i...
