Lured by the promise of an exotic new menu, we were rushed in, tricorders throbbing, to see if this upward trend would continue. None at first, but very noisy as restaurant quite full. Go back to Naan Trek home page. Surprising we hadn't reviewed the Devana sooner - it's just across the road from the sports centre. Ah yes, I remember why. Cosy: maroon painted tapestryesque effort on the walls around us, Shiva on the back wall and some pleasant trees by the door. One of those ugly oil wick candle things on the table. Time to get served:. Nothing else of note. OK (what we had was anyway). Quite tasty but very moist, could have done with a more crispy finish. MAIN COURSES AND DESERTS.

Mouth-watering cindered tikka smell at the entrance as we waited to be seated. Fake flames and blatantly fake flowers. Sultry lighting - could pass off as a harem? Effect spoilt by the double doors of an emergency exit across one of the walls. Time to get served:. Cursory service, slow to get waiters attention. Mmm, Good" (Dixon).

Somewhat neglected by trekers over the last few years due to the fact that this unremarkable brown dwarf has always been eclipsed by the brilliance of the white supergiant across the road (i.e. the Garden of Gulab. Classical mouldings, Medieval paintings, although the dusky pink walls were perhaps a little dirty. The stark lighting was dimmed an hour after we arrived. Time to get served:. The service was satisfactory.

Time to get served:. OK, not long. Amazingly colourful pictures of the dishes with a description of a tandoor etc. Sample description: Dal Bukhara: "a harmonious combination of black lentil, tomatoes, ginger and garlic, simmered overnight, finishing with unsalted butter". MAIN COURSES AND DESERTS. Too drunk to remember.

Or should it be 'paratha' therapy …. I am a little sad. Leave a comment ». Our pineapple guava tree died this winter. We had it for the last three years of its long life (judging by the rings, 40-50 at least). In its last few years, it put up with California’s once in a lifetime drought. It also saw a rapid recovery from drought the last two years. Our tree was the highlight of the patio. It stood alone in rain. It mingled with our guests when we had parties. It stood by when a friend knit us a minion.
