Troy & Simone's Belgian Adventure
http://raarupbelgium.blogspot.com/2012/08/have-you-ever-heard-saying-perfect-is.html
Have you ever heard the saying "The 'perfect' is the enemy of the 'good'? That sums up a lot about my personality - I'm always putting things off (or occasionally avoiding them altogether). Anyways, today Troy took the afternoon off work (a partial make-up for having to work on Wednesday's holiday). And we headed downtown to visit the biennial Flower Carpet. For the last Flower Carpet, in 2010, I wrote a good post all about it. If I do say it myself). So no need to repeat myself now. View from the café.

Things have been busy lately. Instead of blogging, I've been spending my days on the interwebs and making phone calls- switching over our utilities, updating our address, coordinating appointments with workmen, searching for furniture and lighting for the apartment, and researching baby furniture and gear. The whole thing is extremely time-consuming and minutia-filled ,. Much better, huh? Years old, from all backgrounds. The club is affiliated with the American Women's Club of Brussels, but we also h...

Loire Valley Pt. 1: Chartres Cathedral. For our sixth wedding anniversary, and the last one prior to the arrival of kids(! We decided to take a long weekend in France. Troy had been wanting to visit Chartres Cathedral for years, and I had a hankering to see some of the famous. Of the Loire Valley so we planned a little driving trip around those sites. We set off from Brussels on a Friday morning and made excellent time to the outskirts of Paris, stopping at a roadside. The traffic going through Paris was.

A Visit to Champagne. Earlier this fall, Troy was working like crazy on a project in England. The new system went "live" on November 2nd, and thankfully everything went well! He hadn't had a day off in ages. Sometimes not even a weekend! So just after Armistice Day we decided to sneak off for a long weekend to the land of Dom Perignon: Champagne! We found yet another wonderful, unique B&B in our Sawday book, this time an 1800s farm/manor house located in the teeny-tiny village of Oyes. Even the village i...

And Little Roo, of course! A beautiful baby shower. Simone, Cornelle, Maisie, Ali, Marcie, Angie, Erin, Raven (not pictured, unfortunately! My friend Maisie, one of the co-hosts, kindly opened her home to us for a Sunday afternoon tea, complete with finger sandwiches, chilled soup, fruit, petits fours. Cake, and tea. The other co-host, Ali, is a baker-extraordinaire and she made this sweet cake, among other goodies! Tummy drops, gripe water, teething gel, etc.). Our anniversary falls in late May. And is ...

Troy & Simone's Belgian Adventure: August 2011
http://raarupbelgium.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
It's been a crazy few weeks around the Raarup Belgique household, and filled with summer birthdays. First, back on June 15th we celebrated Monsieur Raarup's 38th. In what has become a sort of a Troy-birthday-tradition ( here. For example) I fixed fajitas, guacomole, and margaritas for dinner, though my "marg" had to be a juice cocktail this year for obvious reasons. For dessert, I made Troy's favorite chocolate-cherry-armagnac cake. Dolce (Italian for sweet). Speaking of being preggo, that leads me to th...

So this is certainly not the first time that I have written about. On this blog, but I haven't written on precisely this topic before: baby food! My parents got us this great Béaba baby food cooker. For Christmas. It steams and purées. Plus defrosts and reheats if you are so inclined. Though I prefer the speed of the microwave for defrosting and reheating, I like the idea of the extra features just in case. Her food; and it's a fraction of the cost of store-bought baby food. Brilliant. World Vision - Bui...
