NEIL IN NIGERIA: October 2010

http://www.neilharknett.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

A blog following my 6 months in Jos, Nigeria with Mission Africa and City Ministries. Tuesday, 26 October 2010. This time last week I was sat on my own in KFC in Belfast wondering what the week would have in store. I was to meet x amount of people the next day who will be traveling to Nigeria with me. Thoughts running through my head included 'They're bound to be slightly odd, because you have to be a little crazy to be embarking on this type of mission'. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. We then co...

NEIL IN NIGERIA: July 2011

A blog following my 6 months in Jos, Nigeria with Mission Africa and City Ministries. Saturday, 23 July 2011. Day 166 - 171. Day 166 (Monday 18. I have been trying to get hold of a set of youth bibles for Gidan Bege for a number of weeks, and woke up to a text from the Mission Africa ministry bookshop called ACTS saying they haven’t been able to get hold of them. They had five different bibles, and one of them was really really cool. The cover is denim and made to look like a pair of jeans. We played a g...

In the Giant of Africa. Tuesday, 17 July 2012. The Grace Gardens ministry. Grace Gardens is a safe house for vulnerable women. Just another WordPress.com site. The past few weeks. May 21, 2011. Back in Jos and here to stay🙂 It was nice to travel but I’m glad we can settle down into a routine now. I’m realising more and more that I have to adapt to African time here and my expectations for what I want to get done are becoming more realistic. I’ve conquered some of my fear of powdered milk and am able to have cups of strong tea now. I still can’t bring myself to have a glass of it straight though. Yuk. I’m enjoying cooking ...

Just another WordPress.com site. A little update →. July 27, 2011. The three new boys are settling in well. Abednego told me the other day that he loved Gidan Bege! Jesse is becoming more lively and talkative now and I can see Blessed is enjoying interaction with other boys his age. We organised a set of races to do with the boys egg and spoon, wheelbarrow, skipping, hopping, three-legged etc. They loved it! One of the summer teams is here! It felt like a wedding; there were decorated chairs on the groun...

Just another WordPress.com site. Mission Africa GAP Programme to Nigeria. Next Post →. November 5, 2010. So a couple weeks ago I went to Belfast for some orientation and training for my time in Nigeria. I was a bit nervous before I went and didn’t really know what to expect but the week was amazing and I’m even more excited about February now than before! We kicked off the week by looking at Matthew 10 which was really nice as it reminded us why we are heading off on this crazy adventure. This was pretty...

In the Giant of Africa: June 2012

http://lynseyinnigeria.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

In the Giant of Africa. Sunday, 17 June 2012. Imagine waking up on a Sunday morning and the first thing you have to do is to pray that no church will be attacked and pray that God will watch over you as you worship Him in church that morning. For everyone in Nigeria, especially in the North, this is reality – church has become one of the most unsafe places to go. Who knows when and where a church will next be bombed? They are on the front line. God led me to read Deuteronomy 31:6 which says;. This verse ...
