Shetland move and experiences: August 2015
http://shetlanddream.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, 15 August 2015. For many people Yell is a place to drive through on the way to Unst. The road from the ferry passes the west side, virtually a straight road north. It does pass several interesting places if you have time to take a detour. Westsandwick beach is superb with parking nearby. A good place for Otters and a paddle. Yell in fact is the largest of the north isles with a population of around 900 people, most on the eastside. The normal pre wedding advertising above. This will come as goo...

Shetland move and experiences: Bressay
http://shetlanddream.blogspot.com/2015/08/bressay.html
Sunday, 9 August 2015. Recently we have been getting around a few of the islands that we haven't visited for a few years. This weekend it was Bressay , well in fact this was the second visit of the week. He was renting land but from who, all I could see was nine deserted crofts, people left some 30 years ago. More evidence was on the beach with many rusting chains which had been used to tie up small open fishing boats many years ago. Last night was the final concert of Fiddle Frenzy and it was a superb e...

Shetland move and experiences: May 2015
http://shetlanddream.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, 31 May 2015. This week has been very mixed weather , even snow on Friday up on Yell and in the north mainland. On other days, showers some with hail, but also long periods of sun. The weather next week promises a heatwave for June, but we will have to see whether this extends to Shetland. Lerwick has had its share of interesting ships, which should increase in number as the summer progresses. The Dim Riv has yet to make an appearance but this normally coincides with the tourist season. This is a ...

Shetland move and experiences: Friendly
http://shetlanddream.blogspot.com/2015/07/friendly.html
Tuesday, 21 July 2015. On Thursday last week we went over to the music at Asta, it was packed. As always teas and homebakes came out at 9pm, as it was nice everyone enjoyed the food outside in the late evening sun. He could have easily involved other cars in a bad accident. Its been very busy at work but helping the old folk is very rewarding and it was good to see them enjoying an old Shetland film from the 1970's after their lunch. If you get chance please have a look at my other two blogs.

Monday, 23 February 2015. Just reading the Sheffield Star on Saturday and it was interesting that 2 People are murdered every month in South Yorkshire. We certainly don't miss this and feel very safe in Shetland. Minor incidents happen but these are normally in Lerwick and we have not seen any ourselves since moving here last April. St Ninian's Isle west side. Looking north towards Fitfull Head. Wednesday, 11 February 2015. Sunday, 1 February 2015. Lerwick Up Helly Aa. Shetland is famous for many things ...

Shetland move and experiences: August 2014
http://shetlanddream.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Friday, 22 August 2014. After several days of unpacking cardboard boxes we are nearly free of mountain of cardboard we just need extra storage space in the kitchen, this should be ready for collection next week. Most things have to come up from Scotland. You will not be in Shetland long before you find that music is an important feature of daily life in the isles. You can hear music most nights either in pubs or at the many concerts held at the Marlee, Islesburgh or Garrison theatres. Most of Shetland mu...
