Room 17's Brilliant Blog. Daffodil day - Friday 26 August. Ngaio School are running their annual fundraiser for the NZ Cancer Society on Friday 26 August. We ask that students bring a gold coin for our coin trail and wear yellow, orange or green. We are aiming to beat the amount we raised last year! We had a great turn out of parents and grandparents at our last assembly and it meant so much to the children so please do come along if you are free :). The dates of these trips are:. Room 17's Brilliant Blog. Our inquiry topic this term is 'Rockin' Rio'. During this topic we will be looking at the values which underpin the olympics such as resilience, friendship and respect. We will also be learning how belonging to groups is important for people and looking at how we all belong to different groups. Room 17's Brilliant Blog. Thursday, 7 July 2016. This week in Room 17 we have been learning to perform plays to an audience. In doing this we needed interpret the play by use actions that fit with our character and a voice. We even made our own masks! We were mindful of our audience by using clear and expressive voices and we made sure we didn't have our back facing them. We also learnt to give feedback (tickle pink and green for growth) to help improve each others performances. Adding to make Ten.

Room 17's Brilliant Blog. Thursday, 7 April 2016. Recently, some children from Room 17 tended to our school garden one lunchtime as an activity for 'The Green Team'. We planted some seedlings which we grew from seed in our classroom, turned the soil and watered the plants. We will be learning lots more about caring for plants and why they are important next term!
