Little Corn Island -. Ah…Little Corn Island. You can walk around it in about an hour. On the way around you will pass quaint restaurants, coconut sellers, people who want you to ride horses, go snorkeling or fishing and who knows who else? Wild coconut palms populate the island and the coconuts are free for the picking. With the big health fad of drinking daily coconut water, you are certainly in the right place! So what about the beaches? SO WHAT’S THE SECRET? FANTASTIC SUNSETS GREAT, CHEAP RESTAURANT.

This out-of-the-way beach is a favorite with Nicaraguans who live near the town, especially when they want to go to the beach with a bunch of friends or family. One of the only beaches with shade, Peñas Rotas provides a nice spot for your group under the scrappy trees. There are NO amenities at this beach! SO WHAT’S THE SECRET? This is a completely different type of beach. Within a small, protected bay, you can enjoy the afternoon with your friends in the quiet waters of El Toro. SO WHAT’S THE SECRET? You can also look for small snail shells on the rocks that make a great pasta sauce when removed, boiled and spiced with garlic! There are almost never any people on this beach, but there have been reports of a thief or two (as on all of the beaches when the opportunity hits), so don’t take valuables with you.
