July 2007 | Opinion, Cynicism and Dissent
http://twopenniesworth.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Opinion, Cynicism and Dissent. Being the thoughts, woes and life of an average blogger. Tuesday, July 31, 2007. So the other day there was a report that ITV have apologised for a drama about Alzheimer's. Apparently, the scene which portrayed the victim dying in fact showed him slipping into a coma. He died two days later. I'd love to hear the NHS response to. The point is . if there is one at all . that channels apologising for ripping people off by stealing their money is fair enough. But, g...What's ev...

Nothing Much Will Happen: February 2006
http://nothingmuchwillhappen.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Nothing Much Will Happen. Tuesday, February 28, 2006. To shrove or not to shrove. I wasn't going to bother. But now I'm sitting here, teaching myself how to play poker, thinking that a pancake will just hit the spot. But (shock horror! I don't know how to make them, and Delia's only got a fancy recipe (who keeps buttermilk in their fridge, anyway? In her How to Cook Book 1. Ha! So, that will lead me on to my next post - what to give up for Lent? I accepted the fact that, if you're making pancakes for you...

how-you-say-it: June 2010
http://how-you-say-it.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 24, 2010. Monday to Wednesday, I was in Manchester, on a course that I enjoyed thoroughly - fellow participants exceeding my expectations around humour, deep thinking, and scope for creating intrigue. Monday morning, during a break, I am walking down a wide looping staircase with a fellow participant, The Dane. She is 30ish, she is tidily casual, and we've already spoken of various cultural interests. What did you say you did? I manage a small design team. But, minimum wage? This pleases m...

how-you-say-it: 5/7: Hours after Mam's service

Monday, June 13, 2011. 5/7: Hours after Mam's service. Her parents had moved 200 miles north such that an adoption, 'at their age', could be effected. Now, overlooking a blustery North Sea, she clasped the hand tight - the good man, the one who would not get away, the one who had already decided to leave. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Saturday, June 11, 2011. Barely perceptible, but there, a flicker of something - no doubt about it, the eyes flashed alert. Half-baked hypotheses now queuing to be made sense of, the older man rose, made his excuses, and headed out onto the street. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Northerner. In the Midlands. how-you-say-it: The Anatomy of a Week-Long Moment
http://how-you-say-it.blogspot.com/2011/06/anatomy-of-week-long-moment.html
Monday, June 06, 2011. The Anatomy of a Week-Long Moment. Just back from a fractured week in Powys and Herefordshire, where Alex and his young cousin playfully broke up the otherwise Proper Grown Up stuff of the Hay Festival. And my breathing in of the lush green hills of Presteigne. In old Radnorshire - home of the very well-groomed (albeit naive) Pristine Christine, the best green teen of Presteigne. In conversation with Sandi Toksvig. The following day, I committed only to Javier Cercas. Saying as muc...

how-you-say-it: January 2011
http://how-you-say-it.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 10, 2011. On Boxing Day, I risked getting into Newcastle-upon-Tyne - through hordes of sales shoppers and the great amassing ranks of 53,000 football supporters to entreat. There was a time, during some extended building works when the toilets were some combination of not draining and, thus, getting deeper. Phew, phew and phew again! I don't know why you do it. Y' know, they're just as happy chillin' out - maybe give them a year off next year, eh? Though I am adopted. I can hear that!

Over the Ord and Back: July 2011
http://sperlonga7.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Over the Ord and Back. The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began." J.R.R. Tolkein. Tuesday, July 19, 2011. I never really got to know her very well before this year. Oh, we knew each other. I went on visits every year since 1999 when we moved back to America. Since we decided to buy the house in Minnesota, I've made several trips up and stayed with them. This time we worked together and it was so much fun! She can do anything! She mows, chases calves, drives tractors, paints the hous...

PX marks the spot | Two Scoops

Because one scoop wouldn’t be enough. PX marks the spot. November 27, 2009. Other brands are available, but make sure the label says PX. Mackies Luxury Dairy Ice Cream. Which does exactly what it says on the, erm, carton. With the former rather than the latter. I venture to suggest that it might work extremely well with Christmas pudding. Alcohol connoisseurs to cater for at the time I made the recipe, and it still lasted us. As the ice cream melts a little, you may wish to stir the sauce into it some mo...
